Chapter 19
Rogue King
"Don't you think it's too soon, alpha? Alarick still has his people there. You said it yourself, we wait until they leave." one of my men says, making me growl at him. We were hiding in the forest, making sure to stay out of sight. Skylar's guys were playing around, not giving a shit about what was happening.
It pisses me off to see that they take their fucking job so lightly. Alarick's guards seem to care more about protecting this pack than they do. This pack is soon mine, and I won't let anyone stand in my way. But the first one to go will be Morrison. I can bet you on that. I will relish the moment I see his blood spill.
"So what do you suggest, we stay out here until nightfall and wait for them to fall asleep? Stop fucking wasting my time. I gave them plenty of time to leave. I'm done waiting. We should have gotten Morrison when he went to visit Hillside. It's either now... Or never." I say, gritting my teeth as I feel my wolf growl. He was just as eager as I was, to get rid of him.
"On my signal. We attack," I say, making them nod in unison. When I see someone call Alarick's guards over, I take that as my cue. "NOW!" I say as we begin to run toward the men.
We begin to attack them, fighting with all of our strength. Skylar's pack is weak and obviously badly trained. But I know I left him with little to work with from the last attack, so we don't kill them. We just make sure to disable them enough to get to the main target. But they begin to call for help, running away and scattering around.
Alarick's men return and they begin to give us a good fight. I turn to see one of the guards climbing one of the towers and I run quickly after him. He grabs a phone and dials, getting an answer instantly. He gives them the alert and it pisses me off. I snatch the phone away, slamming it on the wall, and attack him.
My wolf takes over, unable to control myself. I lift him off the floor and slam him across the wall and make him fall to the ground. The last I want is to have Alarick here. This isn't his battle, it's not Skylar's either. My beef is with Morrison, he's the only one I want dead.
I will get my revenge soon, but first I need to warn Alarick to stay the hell away. Before I lose my cool and break my promise to not hurt his pack again.
Alarick
The past few days, I've had several calls from my guards that were left in the Silver Moon pack to protect them. They've been sensing something off. Late at night, they spotted rogues roaming the surrounding areas, watching, and surveying. They haven't attacked the pack, but I have a feeling they will soon.
"We need to stay alert and be ready to leave as soon as we hear of an attack. Whatever happens, we must protect each other, and make sure that no one gets hurt. Is that understood?" I warn my pack warriors, making them hoot in unison as they sat before me in our meeting room. They were well-trained to fight to the death, but that doesn't mean I want them to.
I grew up with every one of my members, they are all important to me, and I don't want to see any of them lose their lives. Especially in the hands of a damn rogue.
It was as if on cue. We get a phone call in the emergency line and I pick up instantly. It's a call from one of the guards stationed out there. "We're under attack. I repeat we are under attack. Alpha, we need backup." a loud growl in the back is heard and then the line goes dead.
We look at each other for a second before we all stand on our feet and run out. Livie senses something, we are running to the area we keep our weapons, grabbing what we can and seeing some of my men already taking off with duffle bags filled with weapons inside.
"Ricky, what is happening?" she says, worriedly, looking at everyone run and grab their gear. "We have a mission. We will be back as soon as we can, ok, love? Stay put. I'll have Margot come to keep you company soon as she can. I love you." I say as I kiss her lips and take off as well. If we leave in cars, it will take us longer to go around because of the way the roads are made, so we made sure to grab our weapons in duffle bags that can be carried easily by our wolves. I shift to my wolf, Black, and he grabs a duffle bag, places it over his body, and runs off.
It takes us a good fifteen minutes, but it feels like a damn eternity. My men are badly injured, and Skylar's pack is running around like fucking headless chickens, not knowing what to do.
I see Skylar's brown and gray wolf fighting, along with his men, but his Luna and the rest of the she-wolves are nowhere to be found. The rogue has females fighting, and because of that, I made sure to bring she-wolves as well to make things evenly fair. My she-wolves go into action joining the fight, giving the coward wolves retreat as my girls begin to defend them from the rogue she-wolves.
"Stay out, kid. This isn't your fight." the rogue king says, and I shift back to my human form. "This is my fight because you made it my fight, King. Back the hell off. Tell your men to stop. You've already killed enough of this pack's members." I say menacingly, growling at him as we both stand in fighting positions.
"This has nothing to do with you, kid. Now I am warning you, STAY. OUT.OF.MY. WAY!" he growls and we begin to fight. Punches and kicks are thrown, but we both somehow manage to block each other's blows.
He punches, and I block. He kicks, and I block with a kick. I throw a punch, and he dodges my fist. And by the looks of it, the only thing getting hurt is the trees and things we hit instead of each other.
"Noah, please. Stop pulling me, you're hurting me." Morrison's wife yells, making him turn. He growls, making his eyes red with anger. I see his motive. The King is here for Morrison, but I can't let that happen. If he kills Morrison, we can't go along with our prosecution, and all those girls he hurt will not see the rightful justice. Killing him will only give him the easy way out.
The King is ready to attack him, but I stand in his way. "Stay away, kid!" he says, getting on my face, but I don't budge. "No, King. Call it off. You don't want to do this. Noah will have what's coming to him, but this isn't the way." I say, but he gets irritated. I manage to distract him enough though, and Morrison escapes, for now.
He is so pissed, we begin to fight again until we are both too tired. Many are injured, including him and me. I have cuts everywhere and he looks just as bad. We both pause to catch our breath and is only at this point that I notice he has slashed me across my abdomen. It's not so deep, but it hurts like a mother. That's when I realize, his damn sword has been dipped in wolfsbane, and I begin to feel lightheaded. I fear he will take advantage and finish me off here.
He comes closer, and I hate to admit it, but I think I might be done for if I don't keep fighting. I put up my fists and stand ready to keep fighting. He looks to the side, and we both see that Skylar has been knocked out. He's not dead, but he's out cold with a blow to the head. He growls and gives the signal to his people. They all stop fighting and take off to the woods.
"This isn't over, kid. Morrison is mine, and not you or that kid will be able to stop me from killing him. Next time you stand in my way, I won't be too kind." he says as he turns and walks away. My men are ready to go after him, but I stop them.
"Our fight here is over. Let's get home." I say, getting them to nod. No one died, and that was a big relief. Skylar's Luna finally comes out of hiding, making me nod. I know I should be glad that she didn't get hurt. I would probably do the same and tell her to hide, but she should have made her way out here to drag Skylar to safety when she saw him down.
"Thank you, Alpha. We are forever in your debt," she says, making one of my she-wolves chuckle, making her give her a deadly growl. "Don't get things wrong, Luna Morrison. The only reason I came to help was to stop any more bloodshed. But you really should train your people to at least put up a good fight, not coward away by hiding somewhere." I say, making her gasp in shock.
She is ready to mouth off, but I am in no mood to hear it. "Get him some help. You can at least do that, can't you?" I say, turning on my heel and taking off.
We take off running, but I am still hurting by the wolfsbane. I slowed down, and the rest of my warriors do the same, walking beside me as the adrenaline slowly fades away, leaving soreness behind. The walk is long but much needed. When we finally arrive, Livie is in front of the pack house pacing back and forth. Her eyes are wide and she takes off running toward me when she sees me. "Ricky!" she yells, wrapping he arms around my neck as she begins to cry.
"What happened to you? Who did this? I swear I will rip them apart. Oh baby, look at you guys. Are you hurt?" she says, looking at my other warriors. They are all touched by her concern as she begins to cry and hugs all of us.
The girls hug her, looking at her as she goes all momma bear on them. She mind-links the pack doctors who instantly come and drag them away, but she takes me to our room where she personally begins to heal me. She cries silently as she slowly begins to clean the blood off of me. There's a lot of blood, but it's not all mine, which I think scared her the most.
The only problem was my stomach, it was healing too slowly because of the wolfsbane. But she managed to clean it without hurting me and wraps me in a clean bandage with ointment.
Seeing how Skylar's mate cowardly hid away made me realize that I need to train Livie. I need to make sure she can fend for herself. What if I hide her away, but then they still manage to get to her? I would die if anything happened to her, but not before I kill the culprit of her afflictions.
