Alphas regret: Magnificent Return of the Rejected Luna

Chapter Rejected Luna 14

Chapter 14

"Lorelei! What a surprise!"

I turned to see Silas approaching, his face lit up with excitement. "Were you looking for me?" he asked, a playful grin on his lips. "My company's office is just around the corner,"

I forced a laugh, shaking my head. "No, no, I wasn't."

Silas's eyes fell on the tie I was holding. His grin widened as he reached out and took it from me,

"Qh, this is for me? You shouldn't have!" His voice brimmed with enthusiasm as he admired the color.

Topened my mouth to correct him, to tell him the tie wasn't for him, but before I could say anything, he was already pulling off his own tie. "I love it," he saft, his hands fumbling with the new one. "But... I think I've forgotten how to tie it."

I stared at him for a moment, unsure of what to say. The tie wasn't meant for him, but what harm would it do to let him have it? I could always buy another one for Branwen later.

I smiled, stepping closer to Silas. "You've forgotten how to tie a tie? What happened to the alpha who's always so put together?"

Silas chuckled softly, his cheeks flushing slightly. 'It's been so long since I've tied one, I think I've forgotten how to do it.'

That's normal, married men often have their wives tie their ties for them, so they get rusty.

The comment slipped out before I could stop myself. "How did you know I was married?" Silas asked suddenly, his voice a little too eager, as if he was hoping I hadn't noticed.

I tilted my head, giving him a knowing look. "You're the alpha, Silas. Plenty of women must have dreamed about being your Luna, but you chose someone early on. It's hard not to know."

I fixed his tie and Silas stood up straigh, watching me with a curious smirk as if something amusing had just crossed his mind. He tilted his head slightly and asked, "Really, Lorelei, would I be the man of your dreams?"

The question caught me off guard, and for a moment, I just stared at him, unsure how to respond.

His expression was expectant, as though my answer really mattered to him. I tried to keep my tone light and playful, even though something about the question felt too serious.

"Well," I said slowly, choosing my words carefully, "even if you were my dream lover, what would happen? You already have your own Luna."

The effect of my words was immediate. Silas' eyes brightened, and a strange excitement crept into his expression. He leaned forward slightly, his attention fixed entirely on me. For some reason, this made me nervous, though I wasn't sure why. "Ugh, Lena," he said, rolling his eyes dramatically. "You know, she's always making a fuss over the smallest things.

Like yesterday-she lost it because she found some hair on my suit. Can you believe that? I don't even know whose hair it was!" He sighed, his exasperation clear, then added, "If only she could be as gentle and considerate as you are." I laughed sheepishly, trying to shake off the discomfort I felt as he spoke.

His words felt like a dangerous line we were both toeing, but I wasn't sure how to step back. I wasn't Lena, after all, and though his complaints were directed at her, I wasn't here to replace her.

Silas, however, seemed genuinely touched by my reaction. He straightened up and asked, "By the way, what are you doing here so early? We're not meeting for dinner until later."

I packed for a second. I couldn't possibly tell him that I had been looking for Branwen.

The real reason I was here had nothing to do with Silas, but if I told him that, it would definitely lead to more questions. So, I forced a smile and shrugged.

"Oh, I was just wandering around," I said, pretending to be casual. "I must've arrived at your office without realizing it."

He raised an eyebrow at me, then broke into a grin. "Destiny, then," he said with a wink.

I laughed, trying to push aside the awkwardness. The idea of destiny didn't sit well with me, especially not when Silas was involved.

Before I could say anything more, Silas clapped his hands together, a sudden burst of enthusiasm lighting up his face.

"You know," he said, "it's still a while before dinner. How about we go for a swim? I know a natural swimming pool nearby, and it's beautiful. Perfect for a sunny day like this."

A swim? I hesitated for a moment. Yet, his excitement was infectious, and before I knew it, I found myself agreeing.

"Alright," I said, trying to sound enthusiastic. "Why not?"

We made our way to the swimming pool, which was nestled on a cliffside, surrounded by trees and overlooking a breathtaking view of the valley

Iqw. The pool was large, its waters sparkling under the sun. It was stunning.

After changing into my swimming costume, I noticed Silas' eyes lingering on me longer than usual.

I knew what he was doing-he was searching for scars, trying to confirm whether or not I was Rowena. He thought that if I bore the same marks as her, he'd know for sure.
