Chapter Rejected Luna 21
Chapter 21
Lena POV:
But instead of the tearful reunion I had imagined, she shook off my hands violently, glaring
at
me with confusion and annoyance,
"Ma'am, I think you've got the wrong person," she said sharply. "I'm not Rowena. My name is Lorelei, and I'm the Managing Director of this company."
"No," I stammered, shaking my head. "You're Rowena. Why are you pretending to be someone else?"
She crossed her arms and looked at me as though I were crazy. "I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm not pretending to be anyone. I'm Lorelei. Perhaps you should leave." Her words struck me like a cold slap.
The woman in front of me had Rowena's face, her voice, everything-but the coldness in her eyes was unfamiliar.
And then I remembered something. Rowena had a mole behind her ear. If this woman was really Rowena, the mole would be there.
Without thinking, I reached forward, lifting her hair to check behind her ear. But there was nothing. The mole was gone.
"Lorelei." I whispered, disbelief flooding my mind. "Where's your mole? What happened to it? You're hiding something, I know it. Where have you been all these years?"
Lorelei's face hardened. "What are you talking about? What mole? You're acting insane."
I grabbed her hand, desperately trying to make her admit the truth. "Stop pretending! You're Rowena, I know you are! Just admit it!"
She pulled her hand from mine, fear flashing across her face.
But before I could say anything more, a strong hand gripped my arm, yanking me back with force. I stumbled and turned to face my attacker, my heart racing in fear and anger.
It was a man-tall, broad, and brimming with authority. His dark eyes burned with fury as he glared at me. I recognized him immediately: Branwen,
the Alpha of the Silver Lake pack.
"What do you think you're doing?" Branwen growled. His voice was low and dangerous, filled with barely controlled rage. "Why are you hurting my sister?"
"Sister?" I repeated, stunned. "Are you saying she's your sister?"
Lorelei stood behind Branwen, her face calm now, as though she were watching a scene play out that she was completely detached from.
"I told you, I'm not Rowena," Lorelei said coldly. "My name is Lorelei, and Branwen is my brother."
My mind reeled. Could I really be wrong? Was it possible that I'd mistaken Lorelei for Rowena? But how could two people look so alike? I forced myself to calm down, reminding myself why I had come here in the first place. I took a breath and focused on Lorelei, trying to suppress the rising tide of doubt and confusion.
"Lorelei," I began, my voice steadier now, "I've always been in charge of the healthcare project for the Snowtooth pack. Why did you take it from me?"
Loreler's lips curled into a sneer. "Take it from you? I didn't take anything. I won the contract on my own merit. Maybe you should watch your words,
Luna."
Her mocking tone made my blood boil. "You're not qualified," I shot back. "You don't deserve that contract. You don't know the first thing about managing a healthcare project."
Branwen stepped forward, his towering frame casting a shadow over me. "Watch yourself, Luna," he growled. "You're in no position to insult my sister. Security!"
1 barely had time to react before two guards appeared, grabbing my arms and dragging me toward the door.
"Wait I yelled, struggling against them. "You can't do this!"

But they fould. And they did. Within moments, I was out on the street, the cold air biting at my den
My face burned with humiliation, and my heart pounded with a mix of anger and confusion. How had it come to that? Korked out of a company by security like I was nothing? Me, a Luna, treated like a common criminal?
I pulled out my phone, my hands still shaking from the confrontation. I dialed the number for my beta, and as soon as he picked up. I difatware
"I need you to look into someone for me," I said, my voice tight. "Lorelei
She's the Managing Director of the company that took our healthcare project. Find out everything you can about her. I need to know who the really k
As I ended the call, dread settled in the pit of my stomach. If Lorelei wasn't Rowena, then why did the look exactly like her? And if the was Romesa, what was her game? Where had she been all these years?
d then a new fear took hold. If Silas found out about Lorelei-if he saw her-I knew what would happen
Silas had never truly let go of Rowena. Even after all this time, even after her death, he still carried her in his heart.
If he saw Lorelei, if he saw that face again, he would fall for her, I couldn't let that happen I couldn't let Lorelei take him from me.
I wouldn't allow it.
