Billionaire's Betrayal: My Ex Beg Me To Love Him Again

Chapter 0019

Chapter 0019

Caroline' Pov

I could have seen that crash play out in front of me a hundred times, and yet I still wouldn't have believed what I just save He'd deliberately htt Martin's car in an attempt to abscond with me trapped in his car Was William crazy)

Any fear that remained in me swiftly morphed into fury. He'd just hit my friend's cart Martin could be dead for all I know! The thought of jumping out of the vehicle to run to Martin crossed my mind, uncaring of the fact that we were still moving "The doors are locked," William reminded me as I struggled to yank open the door. "Don't even think about it, Caroline. He's fine, see?"

Willing myself to believe him, I looked back at Martin's car and was relieved to see him getting out of the driver's set unscathed. "Oh thank God," I whispered, "he's alright.

William piped up, anger simmering in his voice "Why do you care about him so much?" he scowled, his hands gripping the steering wheel tighter than before. "Were you sleeping with him?"

I wasn't even going to bother to answer such an insane question. "What the hell do you want, William?" I demanded as I fixed him with a sour look. "Where are you taking me?" My abductor barely spared me a glance, his voice brimming with contempt. "You left your things in my villa."

My lips parted in disbelief at William's reasoning. Was this seriously what William was freaking out about? Is that why he basically kidnapped me? All because I left something in his villa?

"Then throw it out," I huffed, attempting to sound indifferent.

William seemed to grow incensed by my simple demand, and I could see his features begin to twitch with annoyance. "You don't tell me what to do."

Although I wanted to argue, I was too drained of energy to deal with William's insanity, so I just turned my head away and closed my eyes. If he was going to take me somewhere, I might as well get some rest on the way. Upon arriving at the villa and slipping out of the car, William tried to grab my wrist, but I steered clear of him. "I'll go in on my own," I scoffed, marching into the home so I could take back whatever I had left behind.

There to greet us with a smile was the housekeeper, Gerald. "Ah, Master William, Miss Caroline. It's good to see you again. Miss Caroline, your room has been cleaned and prepared for you."

Confusion brewed in me as I tossed William an odd glance. If there was a room prepared for me, that meant that William had to have known I was coming Was this all planned? " never said I would spend the night here. "Your new home is pretty far from here, Caroline," William said with a condescending sport. "I don't want people thinking I'm abusing my ex wife "

As much as I detested being here, arguing with William would bring about nothing but a headache. As long as I got my own room to sleep in and got to go home afterwards, I would be okay. "Fine,"

The way William smiled at my compliance made me sick. "I need to prepare some files for a couple meetings 1 have soon. Gerald, go ahead and prepare her favorite meal. I'll be back afterwards." Now seemingly done with me, William escaped into his study, leaving me with the housekeeper. My desire to leave was strong, but I had no way of returning home, thus leaving me at William's mercy.

As the bleakness of my situation settled in with me, Gerald beamed at me as though I were still the lady of the household. "Is your favorite still carbonara, Miss Caroline?"

Although my energy was depleted and I desperately wanted to leave, Gerald's warmth brought me comfort, and so offered him a weak smile. "It is, thank you. And please, it's just 'Caroline'."

The housekeeper bowed his head and went on to make a dish for me. I waited patiently until the fine dinner was placed in front of me, where I let myself indulge in a good meal Gerald was a great cook, as well as a good friend in general. He had always listened to my problems whenever William was away, always at my side with a cup of tea and comforting words at a moment's notice.

Just as I finished cleaning my plate, it dawned on me just how exhausted I was. "Where is my room?" I asked him politely, ready to fall into the nearest bed.

Before Gerald could respond, William hurriedly slipped out of his study. "The master bedroom," he swiftly interrupted. "With me."

The glare I shot him was cold, but William just replied with a smug lift of his lips. "Come on, Caroline. Gerald's old. Let's give him a break so we don't tire him out, alright?"

Against my better judgment, I complied. Deliberately ignoring him, I ventured upstairs and into the master bedroom. I told myself I would just get some sleep and then I would be on my way the next day. I wasn't going to play into any of his tricks.

Entering inside the room hit me with a wave of mixed feelings. Our room was a grand master bedroom fit for royalty, with paintings adorning the cream walls and a beautiful canopied bed gracing the center of the room. The familiarity held so many happy +25 BONUS

memories, but now they'd all been soured with hindsight.

Ignoring William's looming presence in the doorway, I laid myself down on what used to be "my side" of the bed. In an effort to get some sleep, I turned away from William so I wouldn't need to see his face. As the minutes ticked and sleep evaded me, however, I soon felt my ex-husband's arms wrap around my waist.

"Do you regret our divorce," William asked bluntly, bringing me close to his warm body.

Indignant, I shoved him away with all my might. How dare he touch me as though I was still his wife? "No! No, I don't!"

In response, he only hugged me tighter from behind, burying his nose into my neck and inhaling. Gripped with immense disgust, I tried my damnedest to shove him away. Instead of parting with my reluctant form, he rolled on top of me, trapping my hands down as he -cast down a furious gaze on me. A toxic mix of fear and anger swelled in my chest.

With a low, hauntingly dangerous voice, William asked, "Are you in love with Martin?" How many times was he going to ask about Martin? In a burst of anger, I lied and said Yes!" Just to irritate him, not caring that I was poking the bear.

Something unreadable danced across William's gaze, and before I knew it, his lips were pressed to mine in a fierce kiss. With a yelp; I wrenched my hands from his grasp and harshly shoved him away from me. He shot me an annoyed look, but before he could respond SMACK!

Shock filled William's wide eyes, an angry red mark on his cheek from where I'd slapped him across the face.
