Chapter 1194
"Thank you," Rosalie said as she received the bottle of tea. She in turn handed the author a little gift box. "This is a small token for you. Please accept it."
"A small gift for me?" the author said happily as she received the gift. "Thank you, you're so nice. Let me treat you to lunch."
She was very glad to meet a fan here.
"Let me treat you instead," Rosalie offered.
"How could I let you do that?" the author said. "Let me give you a treat. Don't stand on ceremony with me. I'm very thankful for your support for my novel."
"You write very well and I couldn't stop reading the novel."
"I want to hear your assessment of it," the author said. "What do you think of it? Give me your honest opinion."
As long as it wasn't a malicious insult that wasn't constructive, she could accept any objective comment that came her way.
Rosalie thought about it for a while before saying, "Very dramatized and frustrating, but the story is written very immersively and I got so worked up so many times as I read it. Yet, I couldn't put it down. The writing isn't superfluous or unnecessarily flowery. It is clean, straightforward, and easy to read. In general, it's quite an attractive and very immersive read."
"Hahaha..." The author chuckled. "I'm writing a drama in the first place. But no matter how dramatic the novel is, it'll never beat real life."
Rosalie chuckled, finding this author a nice woman indeed.
"Oh yes. When I read your novel, I noticed this reader by the name of Angie who kept scolding you. Did you see her comments?"
"Oh, you mean her. Of course, I know about her. She has a screw loose. Just because the story didn't go the way she wanted and the female lead didn't forgive the male lead, she took a 180-degree turn and her love for the story turned into hate. That was when she started attacking me. She first started attacking the female lead before she gradually started targeting me. She kept leaving filthy and untrue statements about me and even ganged up with some of her minions to scold me. They were very persistent in their efforts."
The indifferent look on the author's face confused Rosalie. “They left such nasty comments and even I felt uncomfortable reading them. Don't you feel the least bit angry?"
"Why should I get angry over some fools?" The author shrugged. "They don't affect my writing and most readers are quite normal."
"You're really forgiving," Rosalie said with a smile.
"I have to. After writing for so many years, I've met my fair share of foul-mouthed readers. I won't be able to survive without some resilience against such pressure.
know some fellow authors who det
stopped writing because of
malicious readers. I'll never do that. I'm the kind who laughs in the face of danger and will write more the more they scold me. Giving up is to let those foul-mouthed people win. I'm the only winner in this battle."
"I didn't expect you to be so different from your novel." Rosalie was beginning to see her in a new light.
The author was a very resilient and strong-willed woman, which was a stark difference from her novel.
She should have known. The values exemplified in a novel didn't necessarily represent those of the author. An author simply writes a story filled with many different characters. If their values all represented that of the author, the author would have to be schizophrenic or take on many different faces.
"Look, there she is, scolding me
again." The author scrolled through her phone and spotted Angie's comment. "She's so persistent, I really wonder if she hates or loves me. Her minions are having a go at me, too. Good on them. The more they scold me, the more followership I gain. I adore seeing them torn between love and hate toward my novel."
им
The author chuckled as she read through the comments.
Rosalie was initially worried that the author might get angry or upset reading the comments. As it turned out, she had been worried for nothing.
This author's will and resilience were strong indeed, and she would only get stronger in the face of adversity.
Anyone else in her shoes would probably give up on writing and hide from the world.
