Chapter 1206
Rosalie glanced at the screen. "Since when did I start writing novels? How come I didn't know about it?"
"Stop lying! This is obviously your work! Otherwise, why would our names appear in the book?" Angie roared. Rosalie remained indifferent. "That, I wouldn't know."
"You don't know? Rosalie, you clearly-"
"Angie..." Aurora grabbed her arm.
Angie suppressed her anger and placed the phone on the table.
"Rosalie," Aurora said, "I didn't even know you could write."
"This book isn't mine. Believe it or not," Rosalie said.
At that moment, the book was updated with a new chapter. The content still focused on Angie and Aurora.
Angie read the chapter on the spot. At the end of it, the author left a note.
[I'll upload a few more chapters today. I'm working hard on them; updates will come soon.]
The two of them looked up at Rosalie. She must have scheduled the upload in advance.
Rosalie stood up. "I don't have time to waste on this nonsense. You two called me here just because of some novel? How ridiculous."
She turned to leave.
"Wait!" Aurora chased after her. "Rosalie, whether or not you wrote this book, it's definitely connected to you. You can't smear Angie and me like this. If you keep this up, we can sue you for defamation."
"If you can prove I wrote the book, go ahead and sue. And there are plenty of people with the same names. Why are you so agitated and assume it's about you? Don't be absurd. See if the court even takes the case."
Rosalie turned and walked away.
"You..."
Angie wanted to follow, but Aurora stopped her. "Forget it. Chasing after her won't do any good. Let's think of another way."
Rosalie returned to the car, where Justin was waiting in the driver's seat.
"How did it go?"
"They're feeling guilty," Rosalie said.
They had done something shameful, so when they saw their actions described in a fictional novel, it naturally made them uneasy.
When the detective suggested this
method earlier, Rosalie had found it
bold. But now, it seemed quite effective. At the very least, it made
them panic, filled them with guilt, and left them restless.
It made them feel like someone knew what they had done, had evidence, and could expose them at any moment.
Justin drove Rosalie to the daycare.
Steve was there, and they had come to pick him up. The caregiver led them to find Steve, but amidst all the children in the nursery, Steve was nowhere to be seen.
"Where's my child?" Rosalie asked.
"He was just here," the caregiver said hastily. "I'll check with my colleagues right away."
The caregiver seemed flustered.
At that moment, another caregiver came over holding Steve. "Miss Young, you're here."
"Steve!" Rosalie quickly stepped forward and took him into her arms.
"Steve's clothes got wet, so I took him to get changed," the caregiver explained.
Suddenly, Rosalie noticed a bracelet on Steve's wrist. She gently held his hand and asked, "Who put this on him?"
The caregiver replied in confusion, "He had it on when he arrived."
Rosalie was puzzled. "But..."
Justin immediately interrupted her. "I put it on him. Rose, since we've picked him up, let's go."
Rosalie glanced at Justin, sensing
།
he had his reasons, and decided not to press further. After they returned to the car, Rosalie removed the bracelet from Steve's wrist.
