Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert)

Chapter 177

Rupert stood in the way of the approaching dean. "What's up?"

The dean immediately switched to a more subservient demeanor. "Here's the thing. We're planning to give this building a makeover for the incoming freshmen, and Sylvia's the only one dragging her feet about moving out. I understand it's tough for a lady to handle such things alone, so I kindly arranged for three security guards to assist her. Mr. Rupert, there's no need for you to trouble yourself. I'll just have the guys help Sylvia, and that'll be the end of it."

His face was all smiles, eager to please, but his eyes avoided Rupert's. When he mentioned the three security guards, his voice quivering a bit.

It was clear he knew exactly who those three security guards really were.

But why would he do that?

Sylvia was about to question the identity of the three security guards when Rupert stopped her.

He interjected, "As the Miss of the Garcia family, she doesn't need anyone else's help."

"What? Miss of the Garcia family?" The dean's eyes widened in shock, nearly popping out of his head.

He shot a frantic glance at the three security guards. The guards also shrank back a bit and quickly left the dormitory.

Sylvia frowned, instinctively stepping forward to chase after them, but Rupert caught her wrist, holding her back.

"Let's go."

Not giving her a chance to react, Rupert led Sylvia away from the dormitory.

Reaching the car, Sylvia shook off his hand.

"Why won't you let me ask? There's something off about those guys."

"Get in the car."

"You know who they are, don't you?" Sylvia pressed.

"I said get in the car."

Rupert opened the car door straight away.

Sylvia knew she was no match for Rupert. With the three security guards gone, going to the dean would be pointless- she had no evidence. Taking a deep breath, she climbed into the car.

...

After sending the three men away, the dean made a phone call.

"Ms. Simpson, it didn't work. Rupert was also there."

"What! Did Rupert seem to notice anything?" Bridget's voice sharpened.

"It didn't seem like it. But Rupert mentioned that Sylvia is the Miss of the Garcia family, Ms. Simpson, why didn't you tell me?" The dean's voice carried a tone of reproach.

"What kind of 'Miss' does she think she is! You can't handle your own job, and you dare blame me!"

Bridget hung up, her face contorted with anger, drawing a frown from her mother, Miriam.

Miriam warned, "Mind your image. You're a public figure, after all. What would people think if this got out?"

"Mom! What image do I have left? This morning a dog leash company even asked me to endorse their product! And Rupert, instead of checking on me first thing, goes off

to help Sylvia move out of her dorm. How am I supposed to swallow

that?

If the dean had been just a bit quicker, Sylvia would've been humiliated by those three security guards by now. I'd love to see her smug face then!" Bridget furiously smashed the cups on the table.

After venting, she suddenly calmed down.

"Mom, Rupert's so smart- he couldn't have noticed something, could he?" Miriam smiled leisurely. "No, even if he did, he wouldn't say anything." "Why not?"

"I found out that Rupert and Bailey are dealing with a very important client this time, and the client has very strict requirements, especially no negative publicity. You're Rupert's fiancée, so he'll definitely protect you. Besides... Tristan wouldn't allow any slip-ups."

Miriam patted her hand reassuringly.

Hearing this, Bridget immediately showed a sinister smile.

"Mom, so you're saying whatever I do now, Rupert will have to side with me?"

"Exactly."

"Good."

Bridget smirked. She wouldn't allow Sylvia any alone time with Rupert.
