Chapter 1393: I just want him to be safe and sound.
After the doctor's examination, Alvaro just had to recover properly for a few days and then he could be discharged from the hospital. "That's good." Bonita let out a huge sigh of relief, her heart, which had been hovering in the air since the night before, finally settling back into place. Seeing her relieved expression, Alvaro felt both pain and remorse.
"I've always been blessed with a good life, how could I have died to those bad guys." Alvaro said in a lighthearted tone.
"Blah, blah, blah!" Bonita punched him three times in a row and glared at him reluctantly, "If you mention that word again, watch out I'll beat you up." With that, she clenched her fist and made a gesture to punch him.
"Do you give up?" Alvaro suddenly looked at her very seriously.
Bonita felt embarrassed by the seriousness of his gaze and looked away, "I'll hit you if you're wrong."
"Is that so?" Alvaro laughed softly and signaled her, "Come here."
Bonita obediently approached.
Alvaro wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her.
"I'm sorry I scared you." Alvaro's brow furrowed.
His eyes fluttered, Bonita pursed her lips and shook her head vigorously.
She didn't want him to be sorry, just safe and sound.
"Not anymore." Alvaro reached up with his other hand and gently wiped away her tears.
Bonita sniffled and choked back a sob, "You have to keep your word, you can't lie to me." Alvaro nodded, "Yes."
Paulina and Marcos walked in just in time to see the scene.
"Looks like we've come at a bad time." Paulina teased with a smile.
Bonita wiped away her tears as soon as she heard that and turned around, "Big brother, sister-in-law."
"Crying?" Paulina saw the redness in her eyes and the smile on her lips was immediately cut off.
"It's Alvaro's fault," Bonita looked sideways at Alvaro, "he's the one who made me cry."
Paulina looked at Alvaro, who looked much better, not as pale as the night before.
"How are you feeling, is something else wrong?" asked Paulina with concern.
"Don't you feel well?" Alvaro had a surprised look on his face, "Do I look like I'm not feeling well when I'm so alive and well?" Paulina's mouth twitched, "Do you still feel like being unwell when you look like this?"
"Or what?" asked Alvaro rhetorically.
"Fine, as long as you're fine."
Looking at her state, it didn't really look like there was anything wrong with her either.
"Thanks." Marcos blurted out the words suddenly.
Alvaro froze, then reacted, "Brother, why are you saying thank you, isn't that what I'm supposed to do?"
"Anyway, if it wasn't for you at that moment, I'm afraid I would have died." Paulina looked at Marcos and looked gratefully at Alvaro. "Brother, sister-in-law, you don't have to do this, I'm very uncomfortable." Alvaro looked like he couldn't stand it.
"Take care of your health and leave all the business matters to your brother." Paulina said with a smile.
At that, Alvaro sighed, "I didn't think I would have the vacation I dreamed of."
Paulina smiled and shook her head, then tilted her head at Bonita, "Bonita, you take care of your rest too, don't get tired."
Bonita nodded, "Yes."
Paulina's injuries were relatively minor and she was discharged after two days in the hospital.
This provoked Alvaro's envy.
"I want to be discharged too." Alvaro looked miserably at the doctor who was examining him.
The doctor raised his eyes and gave him a weak look, "Do you want to be discharged?".
"Yes." Marcos nodded his head, anticipation written all over his face.
But the next moment, he suddenly blurted out an "ahh."
His handsome face frowned in a scowl.
"Doctor, what are you doing?" she stared at the doctor in disbelief.
What kind of doctor suddenly presses hard on a patient's wound.
"It hurts, doesn't it? Then be a good boy and stay in the hospital for a few more days." The doctor spoke softly, as if he hadn't just pressed Alvaro's wound.
"I ..."
Alvaro was about to say something else, and as soon as he opened his mouth, the doctor interrupted him, "As long as you recover well, I'll allow you to be discharged early." "All right." Alvaro lowered his head and compromised.
"Okay, I'll stay with you." whispered Bonita in a reassuring tone.
Alvaro looked up into her sweet gaze and smiled helplessly.
He didn't want to tire her out, that's why he was thinking of leaving the hospital sooner.
"Alvaro, I know what you're thinking." Bonita took his hand between hers and smiled warmly, "I'm not tired, not at all."
"Mmm." Alvaro pulled her into his arms.
The two embraced in silence as the doctor quietly withdrew and gently closed the door behind him.
...
Paulina came home from the hospital and the two little ones were there.
They rushed over to her and tilted their little faces, both beaming with joy.
"Mom, welcome home." Sweety's voice was soft, like sticky rice balls coated in sugar.
"Thank you Sweety," Paulina leaned over and gently stroked her little head.
"Mommy, it's for you." Esteban handed her the object in her hand.
It was a painting.
Paulina looked at it for a moment and then took it, her eyes tender as she saw what the painting was about. "Is it a painting of our family?"
In the painting were two adults, a man and a woman, and two children, also a man and a woman.
"Mom, that's my brother and me drawing this together." Sweety's big, pretty eyes twinkled with anticipation.
She waited for Paulina's compliment.
"Did you do it?" Paulina looked at them in surprise and complimented, "You drew it beautifully, Mommy loves it!"
Sweety smiled in satisfaction, her big eyes curved in a crescent shape.
"It's our gift to Mom for her high." said Esteban.
"Thank you." Paulina pressed the painting to her chest, "Mommy will treasure it."
"It was a rare occasion for the two of them to sit at their desks for hours to paint this one."
Ms. Gloria came over with the fruit and smiled.
It was really hard for them to sit obediently at their desks for hours just to give her a gift.
"Mommy loves it, thank you all really." Paulina knelt down and took them in her arms.
She would definitely spend more time with her two children later when the days were quiet again.
"Paulina, you've just been discharged from the hospital and you're not well enough to recover yet, so go upstairs and lie down first." said Mrs. Gloria. Paulina let go of the children, stood up and smiled, "Mom, I'm fine."
"It's not so easy to recover from this body, be a good girl and go upstairs and lie down." Mrs. Gloria lifted her face.
Paulina looked at Marcos helplessly, her plea for help could not have been clearer.
Marcos raised his eyebrows slightly, "I agree with mom."
As they both said so, Paulina had no choice but to walk towards the stairs.
At that moment, Marcos' cell phone suddenly rang.
Paulina unconsciously stopped and looked toward him.
Just to see him pick up the phone, not knowing what was being said on the other end of the line, her face became visibly ugly.
