Chapter 1568: Dad, we miss you very much
Paulina pushed open the door to her office and caught a glimpse of the man sitting behind her desk, his head bowed and his gaze fixed on the papers in his hands.
Marcos thought it was Alfredo who had entered and didn't bother to notice.
He just waited for him to take the initiative and report his work.
"Daddy!"
Suddenly there was a soft voice.
He looked at the voice and his cold face curved into a curve, his eyes looked softly at the two people in front of him and asked, "What brings you here?"
"I came to see you." Paulina walked over and placed the bento bag on the table, "By the way, I brought you dinner."
It was only when she got closer that she noticed the bruises and blackness under his eyes, and she couldn't help but feel a little distressed. "You haven't rested well the last two days, have you been tired?". "No."
I was a little tired, but when I saw them, I felt that all my tiredness had dissipated.
There was nothing but relaxation.
Paulina gave him a feigned look of displeasure, "Liar, you have dark circles under your eyes."
"Daddy, we missed you so much!" Sweety rounded the desk and ran to him, staring at him with her little head cocked to one side.
"You did?" Mark rubbed her little head, "Daddy missed you too."
Paulina tidied up the messy table and then pulled the lunch boxes out of the lunch bag, opening the lid, the aroma of food came out instantly.
"I don't think you've eaten well in the last two days either." said Paulina, placing a box of food in front of him and saying quietly, "This is a special stew for you, drink it while it's hot."
"That much?" Marcos frowned slightly.
"How can it be too much? I want you to recover all the nutrients from the last two days, otherwise I'd be heartbroken."
It was rare to hear her say something like that, and Marcos took it in stride, picking up his box of food and sipping his soup.
Paulina came up behind him and gently squeezed his shoulders, trying to ease the fatigue in his body.
When he finished his soup, Sweety crawled up on his lap and said in a milky voice, "Dad, you need to rest, if you get sick, Mom and I will be heartbroken."
Mark looked at Paulina, pinched Sweety's nose affectionately and said softly, "Yes, Daddy will rest well."
"Sweety, come on down. Daddy has work to do, let's be good and not disturb Daddy." Paulina waved Sweety down.
"It's okay, I'm not busy." said Marcos.
He said that, but how could Paulina not be busy when she could see a stack of papers on her desk that she still hadn't sorted out?
"Sweety, be a good girl and come downstairs. We'll go to the living room and take Daddy's laundry home."
"Okay."
Sweety jumped down, ran to Paulina, grabbed her hand and together they headed for the living room. Marcos got up and followed.
Once inside, Paulina sighed softly at the sight of the changed clothes outside the bed.
He was very busy, otherwise he was so clean, why would he put his dirty clothes directly on the bed.
Did it also mean he hadn't rested in bed?
Thinking about this, he turned around, looking at the man behind him with pity and discontent at the same time, and said, "As busy as you are, you should get some rest. Your body is not your own. Even for our sake, you have to love it well, you understand?"
"Okay, I know." Mark stepped forward and put his arm around her shoulders, "Don't be angry, I'll do as you say and rest."
"I'm not angry, I'm just heartbroken." Paulina turned and hugged him.
With his large palm gently stroking her soft hair, Mark looked down and kissed the top of her hair, "I'm sorry I worried you."
"Take care of yourself if you know I'm worried."
Marcos chuckled, "Good."
Paulina gathered up her clothes and took Sweety home. Although she wanted to spend more time with Marcos, she knew he was busy and her presence would only affect him.
Once Paulina and Sweety left, Marcos returned to his busy schedule.
Two days later, Joaquin Robles, who had been tracking down the material, finally brought good news.
"We have found the material, but most of it has been destroyed."
"Where is it?" asked Marcos.
"Halfway up the hill in the suburbs." Joaquin Robles paused, "Two trucks, inside the ring tunnel, showed up to replace it. Since the models were the same, no one would have noticed, let alone expected an exchange halfway through. So, after this section, the truck carrying his company's materials was driven to the outskirts for destruction. The other truck, carrying the toxic material, went to their manufacturing plant."
"And the driver?" asked Marcos after him.
If the driver could be caught, it would be clear that the materials had been swapped this time.
"He fled after returning the van to the trucking company and his current whereabouts are unknown."
At that, Marcos' face sank like water and he said nothing.
Joaquin Robles sighed slightly and said, "Don't worry, I have sent someone to check the whereabouts of the driver, as long as he is not dead, he will be found."
At these words, Marcos looked at him and spoke coldly, "I'm afraid that person is no longer there."
At these words, Joaquin Robles' expression also wavered.
"It has been hard work." Marcos said, "If you hear anything later, keep me informed."
"Yes, I will let you know as soon as there is any progress."
The two men talked for a few more minutes before Joaquin Robles left.
Shortly after he left, Alfredo hurried into the office.
"Prince, the damage has been cleared this time, almost ten million." finished Alfredo, unconsciously holding his breath.
Although tens of millions was a small amount for the Leoz Group, it was a loss that should not have been incurred and he feared that Marcos would be furious. But he wasn't.
Marcos was pale, with a half-smile and very dangerous eyes.
The attendant was secretly relieved; it looked as if the prince was about to hold back a big move.
He couldn't help but give Bergerian a little wax on the heart in advance.
...
And at that moment in D-Town, Bergerian was resigned.
This time, the Leoz Group had lost almost nothing in terms of reputation, except a little money.
Despite his resignation, he had to admit that Marcos was really good and had redeemed the reputation of the Leoz Group in a few days.
Still, the result was not as expected, but it served to keep Marcos busy for a few days.
Thinking about it eased his gloomy look for days.
Anyway, take your time.
I didn't think Marcos was really that impeccable.
Just then Carl walked in, "Sir, Chris wants to see you."
"Chris?" Bergerian turned his head and looked up at him in surprise, "What's he doing here?"
"He says he's come to see you to work together."
At that, Bergerian slowly curved his lips, "Send him in, I want to see how he wants to work with me."
Chris had worked with Rawlins before and had had the Leoz Group in his sights in every way possible.
Some time ago, the two parties seemed to have hit a rough patch and cooperation was somewhat suspended.
This time, coming to their door seeking their cooperation, whether it was for Chris or for him, the benefits outweighed the drawbacks.
