Master of his heart (Max and Brielle)

Chapter 1103

King stared at the cigarette between his fingers but decided against taking a drag.

Joseph stood nearby, waiting for instructions.

After a long pause, King snuffed out the cigarette in the ashtray, recalling what Max had said-Brielle hated the smell of smoke.

"Get Ronald to talk more," King ordered.

Joseph nodded and was about to leave when King added, "And for now, don't let little Isaac know Brielle is his mom. Keep it under wraps, just like before. No leaks." Joseph was already aware of this directive. Even without the reminder, he would stick to the protocol unless explicitly told otherwise.

But they didn't notice Isaac in the nearby corridor, petting Noir's head and silently taking in every word.

This secret hideout, one of many within the castle, was set up by Joseph at Isaac's request. Isaac loved playing hide-and-seek here with Noir.

So, Joseph didn't consider this particular hiding spot.

Crouching down, Isaac and Noir mirrored each other's movements. Noir stayed still, not wagging its tail to avoid making any noise that could give them away.

Slipping out of the corridor, Isaac crawled into the garden, with Noir following, belly to the ground.

In the garden, Isaac was fixated on one thought: "Don't let little Isaac know Brielle is his mom."

Mom?

Sitting on a bench, he was sure he hadn't misheard. Daddy had definitely said those words.

Since he could remember, he knew he was a child picked up from a trash can.

But he also knew Daddy loved him deeply, almost to the point of obsession.

Worried about losing him, Daddy had kept him locked away in this castle.

Mom had abandoned him and never came back.

He was so young then; he couldn't have done anything wrong.

So, the only explanation was that, in Mom's eyes, his very existence was a mistake.

Now she was back, stealing Daddy's attention with her indifferent glances towards him.

She didn't even recognize him the first time they met.

Maybe she had become so heartless that she never thought he would survive.

Isaac had only caught the tail end of the conversation, but he felt no turmoil.

He, too, wished to remain ignorant of Mom's existence, thinking their mutual presence was meaningless.

Her return wasn't out of love for Daddy.

Brielle's affection was for that man, not Daddy. This wicked woman wanted Daddy gone.

She wasn't his mom.

Isaac pressed his lips together, gently stroking Noir's head. Unlike Daddy, who lost control around her because of his feelings, Isaac felt nothing but admiration for her beauty, devoid of any emotional turmoil. FindNovel

Anyone wishing to erase Daddy from the picture was an enemy in his eyes.

Noir stood up, laying beside him and scratching its ear with a paw.

Seeing this, a small smile played on Isaac's lips.

Isaac had a better disposition than Max as a child, not as withdrawn, but like Max, he rarely felt emotionally connected to anything or anyone, except those who spent time with him and showed him care.

"Noir, I wish she would just disappear, so Daddy wouldn't be in danger."
