Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 264

Everett didn't say a word and just gave a slight nod of his chin. "What do you reckon?" he asked with a knowing look.

Selena got it immediately.

Of course, it was him, Mr. Everett!

She flashed him a grin and gave him a thumbs-up. "Mr. Everett, you never fail to impress!"

Still, Everett wasn't entirely satisfied. His dark eyes narrowed with intent as he remarked, "Rebecca should be grateful she's part of the Bennett family." Everett gently tilted Selena's chin up, his fingers brushing her lips. "Does this seem unfair to you?"

Though his words seemed unrelated, Selena understood the underlying message.

Being a Bennett meant Rebecca was off-limits for harsh retribution, so Everett sought justice in the most impactful way he could. Rebecca had caused a car accident, leaving Selena with a concussion. So, he made sure Rebecca got a taste of her own medicine. This approach meant Selena had to bear some of the consequences.

She shook her head. "I don't feel slighted. I get it."

Despite his tough exterior, Everett was fiercely protective of the Bennetts. He'd always been lenient, but this time, he broke the mold. Selena never imagined he'd go this far.

After all, they were family. He had to consider the Bennetts and his grandfather. It was one thing to discipline in private, but acting rashly was another story.

It was like Selena's feelings towards her aunt. She didn't like her but would never wish harm upon her. She'd just make her aunt face the music for her mistakes. "You're such a sweetheart," Everett said with a twinkle in his eyes as he leaned in to kiss her.

Selena, still a bit bashful, quickly nudged him away. "Derick's still here..."

Everett deepened the kiss and whispered, "Don't worry, he'll disappear."

Sure enough, Selena caught a glimpse of Derick slipping out of the room like a breeze.

"Focus," he murmured, displeased by her distraction. His fingers lightly pinched her waist, hitting a sensitive spot and drawing a soft moan from her.

BUMS

The sound tickled his heart, prompting Everett to kiss her more passionately. His hand slipped under her loose hospital gown, caressing her skin fervently.

Selena sensed Everett's urgency and a slight... tremor.

It was strange. Was Everett actually afraid?

But... could a man like him even feel fear?

What could he possibly be afraid of?

As she pondered, she dismissed the thought. Fear probably wasn't in Everett's vocabulary.

She stopped overthinking, closed her eyes, and embraced his kiss.

In that moment, she chose to set aside her worries and follow her heart.

Much later, she would realize her instinct was right; Everett had indeed been afraid.

When the doctor called about her accident, the usually composed Everett had halted a meeting and rushed out, leaving everyone in shock.

As they kissed, completely absorbed in each other, they lost control.

Without realizing it, Selena's hospital gown had come undone. A few buttons had scattered, her shoulders bared, and her eyes glazed. Everett propped himself up, his face close to hers, and trailed kisses down her neck.

The sexual tension was electric!

His long fingers were teasingly hooked around her underwear. He was about to slip them off.
