Chapter 26 b
Is Nathan going to let Tasya go home alone? Definitely not! Since he can't stop the girl from staying, what he does is... to escort her until she really arrives home. Besides, Mirah isn't an issue to be left behind. He has already said what Mirah should know. There's nothing wrong with what Nathan said earlier. So that Mirah knows her boundaries.
The Jakarta road that night is very friendly. There is no traffic at all except for the red light at the big intersection, which he must obey. The speed of his car is also standard. He hums softly to the rhythm of the gentle music he's playing. He doesn't want to disturb the girl who has fallen asleep soundly next to him.
"Although you could sleep comfortably at home," Nathan sighs irritably. He actually wants to pat Tasya's head, but he's afraid it will disturb her peaceful sleep.
"I need a peaceful rest. I don't want to see your chubby face in my dreams when I'm in your room, sir."
"Do you think I'm a ghost?"
Tasya laughs heartily. "No. But it's just unbelievable. A highly admired Nathan, who's got a great body now, used to have a lot of fat."
"Your mouth gets spicier when you talk, huh, Tasya."
Thinking about the trivial conversation makes Nathan smile broadly. He refocuses his thoughts on the road. He shouldn't lose his concentration just because he's been enjoying Tasya's company for too long. If Nathan were to make a comparison, Tasya's appearance and Mirah's are vastly different.
But unfortunately, Nathan just wants to look at Tasya longer than any other woman who has ever entered his life. If God had told him about his plan to reunite him with the girl who once boldly proposed to him, Nathan wouldn't easily pursue any other woman out there. It's not as easy as making a decision that stress can be alleviated with sex. Call him stupid, but really, being trapped under so much pressure made him lose himself.
There's no more Nathan wandering in the wild. No more airport stamps just to satisfy his eyes and collect photos of the beauty of nature out there. Or his adventures abroad. And his business activities that generate thousands of dollars, which he runs with great enthusiasm.
"If Mama and Aunt Alexa keep bringing women in front of me, what should I do, Rosmerry?"
He's already parked his car right on the edge of Tasya's yard. He doesn't know how many times he's offered to help the girl. But unfortunately, she always declines. Speaking of rejection, he doesn't know why his mind suddenly jumps to a certain person.
Her name is Olivia Margaret. Nathan used to be troubled by Olive's attitude. He voiced his restlessness to Tasya. Her response? Flat.
What did she say? "You'll get bored eventually."
Unfortunately, that's true. Women Nathan pursues can always be conquered. There's no passion because Nathan knows the end of his pursuit. Not like Tasya, who always.... God, if he could count, Tasya must have rejected him ten to fifteen times. That's why when he met Rindu, he saw it as a test of his determination as well. Could he handle another rejection?
Unfortunately... he met Rindu when it was already too late. If only he had met her earlier, he would have competed fairly with that Young Bachelor. His past self was so amusing.
"If I change slowly, will you consider it?" Nathan asks, getting closer. In that simple face, Nathan can't really look away. His habit of being close to many women isn't something he can easily deny or push away. Nathan isn't a saint who's not easily tempted. Especially when paradise is offered. How could Nathan refuse?
He gazes intensely at her face. He tidies her stray hair, especially her bangs. "You've grown into a beautiful girl, Rosmerry. Nothing has changed about you since the past. But why do you always keep to yourself? Don't you want to share with me?"
Nathan thoroughly enjoys looking at Tasya's sleeping face. Shortly after, she starts to stir, and just as she opens her eyes, Nathan smiles at her. "We've arrived, Rosmerry." "Since when?"
Without hesitation, Nathan nods.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" She stretches a bit. Regardless of whether her actions are observed by Nathan. What she needs is to stretch her arms and her back, which is somewhat stiff. Then Tasya adjusts her sitting position. "What time is it now?"
"It's eleven, Rosmerry."
"Oh my." Tasya sighs softly. "I need to hurry inside, sir."
"I asked you to sleep in the room, but you insisted on going home."
Tasya clicks her tongue. She also tidies her hair, which she deems pointless. "I'm getting out, then. Thank you so much for taking me home. I was allowed to sleep for a while without disturbance."
"Who said so?"
That statement suddenly makes Tasya glare angrily. Quickly, she checks her body. Her shirt is still perfectly buttoned, nothing slipped through the holes. She sighs in relief and then moves her hand to her waist or the clasp of her pants. Nothing is amiss there either. She feels more grateful afterward. However, a moment later, she touches her neck. There's no trace of moisture there.
Then... "Nathan! Don't get carried away!"
She rubs her lips. She's quite upset because Nathan did something strange while she was asleep! She was molested, right?
Nathan bursts into laughter. "It wouldn't be nice if I didn't reciprocate your kiss, Rosmerry."
"Nathan!"
"What's wrong? I'm just calling you dear."
"Crazy Raptor!"
"You're the one who told Naina that Raptor is a hunter. Well... I'm hunting you, how about that?"
"Do you need me to recommend a good psychiatrist in Jakarta?"
Nathan's laughter continues. Especially since Tasya keeps rubbing her lips with the back of her hand. Her face shows a big expression of disapproval. Not to mention she's heard the girl grumble in annoyance several times. "Stop it, Rosmerry." Nathan holds Tasya's hand. "I'm not that heartless."
Tasya doesn't want to believe it because Raptor's behavior in front of her is so much like a cunning predator.
"I'm serious." Nathan's tone is much firmer this time than before. His smirk is gone, replaced by a confident gaze. "I don't want to kiss you without your permission."
Tasya still stares at Nathan intently.
"Aren't you curious, Rosmerry?"
"About what?" Tasya is actually curious, especially about Nathan's recent statement.
Really, Nathan makes himself seem like a girl with no appealing qualities. All the women Nathan dates, he knows them all. Every one of them. He even knows their phone numbers. Why? So that when Nathan no longer wants to be in touch, Tasya can handle it. Even something as simple as sending a bouquet of flowers as an apology, when Nathan unilaterally ends the relationship with those women.
At first, Tasya thought Nathan was really a jerk. He made her feel extremely embarrassed. She hasn't forgotten how she once made that request. Plus, she received a response that elevated her hopes. Who wouldn't be happy? Especially when she was in her impressionable years at the time.
The reality is... the man just deepened her heartache. She couldn't protest either!
If Tasya made a comparison, she's nothing compared to the women who accompany Nathan when he's feeling down. Not at all. From various angles. That's why Tasya actually doesn't want to hear what's actually a big question mark in her mind.
"Are you sure you want to know?" Nathan asks with a wide smile.
"Never mind," Tasya sighs softly. "I really want to rest, Sir."
"I intend to tell you, Rosmerry." Nathan stops Tasya from opening her car door. The remote key is always in Nathan's hand. It appears as soon as Tasya turns to look at him. Although she's pouting, Nathan is quite pleased to see an expression on the girl's face.
"It's already late, Sir. Aren't you tired?"
"Tired, yeah, but with you around, I'm sure I can face whatever problems come my way."
"Like a song, Sir. Even though storms come... remember I'll..." Tasya falls silent. "Never mind, Sir. Please unlock it, I'm about to go home. I want to sleep. I'm tired."
[26] c "Why not continue it? Actually, it's good lyrics."
Once again, Tasya sighs. "Come on, Raptor. There's still a lot we have to do tomorrow."
"Sweetie? Love? Honey? Darling? Babe?" Tasya bursts into laughter at her own words. "Those are the nicknames of the women you're dating, Nathan."
Nathan pouts. "Actually, I'm the faithful type, Tasya."
"There's a turn at every corner."
The man is taken aback. "You're getting crazier as time goes by, aren't you?"
"Huh?" Tasya laughs. "I'm right, aren't I, Nathan? Not once or twice, I have to deal with your girlfriend. Who I don't even know her name. Bella, Nisa, Bonnie, Maureen, Septi, Laura, Monika, Desi, Diana, Ima, Clara, Ella, who knows, for God's sake. You didn't mention their names wrongly, did you?"
Nathan bursts into laughter. "That's why their nicknames are universal." He never expected to talk like this with Tasya. "Dear to all of them."
"Raptor's clever at hunting his prey."
"Never mind. I keep losing in this matter." Nathan adjusts his seat slightly. "Listen," This time, Nathan's tone is firmer. He doesn't take his eyes off Tasya easily. It should make Tasya feel embarrassed. But unfortunately, he's facing Tasya who knows what he's like. Strangely, Nathan never wants to hide what's in his life. Maybe not entirely, but he shares a lot with this bespectacled girl.
"I've told you, right? They were just passing through? None of them stuck to my heart, Tasya. I made sure of that." "Even though they're beautiful?"
Nathan chuckled. "I don't just need someone who's beautiful, Tasya. I want a woman who accompanies me not just for show. Her mind is brilliant. She has a strong work ethic. She has values that I appreciate. And most importantly, she loves Naina."
Nathan still doesn't want to take his eyes off Tasya. "I made a clear promise to Naina's parents. I'm not just an uncle who has to take care of her until she meets the right man. I also want my future wife to see Naina not just as a niece. And I admit, Tasya, it's very difficult."
"The specifications you want are like an angel, but you yourself behave like a true hunter."
Nathan burst into laughter again. He didn't expect Tasya to express it so candidly. What did she say? Angelic specifications? Ah... maybe that's it. But there's nothing wrong with his choice, right? He's a man. He wants a wife who can meet his expectations. When he finds her, he'll end his wandering. Besides, whatever Nathan does in his bedroom, they both enjoy it equally. There's no sense of coercion. He also doesn't need a lot of persuasion for his friend to remove her clothes on her own. So why is he being blamed? Isn't it the women who can't respect themselves? Or maybe Nathan should straighten something out. Maybe dating adults always ends up in bed? He doesn't really understand the concept in which he wrestles with many women. What he understands is that they are all satisfied. That's it.
"Men are presented with a beautiful and sexy woman's body. It's not easy to resist. They don't mind either, do they?" Nathan smiled faintly.
Tasya smirked.
"I'm alone with Naina, Tasya. You know, right? I can't expect Mama and Papa to always be by my side. They have their own business. You know, right, how close I was to Naina, even though... I admit, now we're distant. It's my fault." "Why don't you try to fix it?"
Nathan took a deep breath. "After the board meeting, I think I've changed a lot of my habits. Including dating many women."
"I support that. So there's more time for Naina."
"See, the date changed to you."
Tasya's eyes rolled in annoyance. "There's no such concept."
"Huh? The woman who's with me is just you, Tasya. The one who knows everything about my life, it's only you. You should realize that."
"What do I need to realize if you keep disappointing me?"
Nathan closed his eyes for a moment. "Yeah. I admit it. I was wrong. I should have ended everything when you appeared in front of me a few years ago. Unfortunately... as I said earlier, it's not easy. You even made it worse by ignoring me all the time. Do you think I wasn't bothered by it? I was serious, you know. I tried several times to get your attention with many women, but you just supported it. There was no jealousy on your face either. Didn't that annoy you even more, Tasya?" Tasya furrowed her brow.
"Don't make me out to be a big sinner, Tasya. How many times have I said, 'Let's get married'? How many times have I said, 'If you're not ready, let's date first'?"
"Who wants to date Raptor like you? The one who's hunted and devoured alive?"
A very thin smile appeared on Nathan's face. "You should know, Tasya, if I really intended to treat you so badly, it would be easy for you to end up in my bed. But I don't want to force someone who has been on my mind for so long. Besides, everything I want is in you."
Unfortunately... Tasya had been around Nathan for too long. Even though she was being intensely stared at by the man, it didn't affect her at all. What happened was that Tasya's hand easily caressed Nathan's face. "Prove it." "Okay." Nathan quickly replied. His hand, which had been caressing his face, he held in place. He wouldn't let go tightly. If Nathan thought about it, this was the first time they had touched each other. Oh my God! For whatever reason that exists on this earth, when it comes to dealing with Tasya, Nathan doesn't want to be reckless. Not because. He's afraid that he'll be pushed further away from the girl's life.
"It's not that I don't trust you, Nathan." Tasya, who couldn't pull her hand free, said. "If you invite me to have a relationship just because of a promise you have to fulfill, it's better not to. I've forgotten that request a long time ago." Nathan chose to stay silent because it seemed that Tasya still wanted to talk.
"And now it's worse. Mommy and Aunt Alexa are seriously matchmaking you with women out there. If you think I can be your outlet, you better step back. Don't treat me like that, Nathan."
"No," Nathan said quickly. "It has nothing to do with the weird matchmaking Mama made." Nathan also shook his head quickly. "I determine what my life is like and what kind of girl I want." Tasya started to shift her gaze to their intertwined hands.
"Give me a chance to prove that everything related to the women in my life is just a fleeting thing."
"Raptor won a lot, huh? Sampling many women out there, wanting a wife who doesn't know anything."
"Oh my God!" Nathan really didn't expect to hear this from Tasya. "You're so jealous, Tasya?"
"Where's the jealousy, Nathan? That was a sarcastic sentence I had, you know! A sharp sarcasm because it happened, right? You want a woman who's perfect in your eyes. But you fool around out there. God! I'm really afraid that you'll be punished by God. Seriously."
"Eh, you don't know what God's punishment is for me?"
Tasya had her hands on her hips because of Nathan's often wayward words.
"Rejected by Tasya Rosmerry. How miserable can my life be, Tasya?"
The bespectacled girl burst into laughter.
"Plus, now I'm being laughed at," Nathan gently rubbed his face. But to hear, to see how that face painted a smile, and to hear his laughter that was so crisp, Nathan didn't mind.
"So... will you give me a chance to prove it? I can change for you. Only you, there won't be any other women in my life. What you can convince in your heart, I really love."
