Chapter Rebirth Of 2
Chapter 2
Nick Simpson, Natalie's father, was surprised by how quickly Natalie agreed to sign the papers. Jennifer was just as shocked; it wasn't typical for Natalie to give in without a tussle, which often seemed to distance their dad from her. But this time around, Natalie was ready to let it go. "Natalie, don't do this. I took your place, and I know that's why you're upset. But I'm letting go of the past. I forgive you. Please don't sign those papers," Jennifer said, her voice shaky.
Natalie looked at her sister's fake tears with a smirk. "Jennifer, isn't this what you wanted? Me out of the picture, the Simpson family all to yourself? If you're leaving, why wait? It's all talk, no action. And who are these tears really for?"
Jennifer was speechless, surprised by Natalie's calmness. 'When had she become so composed?' she wondered.
Facing Nick, Natalie said, "Mr. Simpson, remember when Easton lost his sight and Jennifer ran away? You brought me in to marry Easton in her place. I guess this is how I repay you."
Nick breathed a sigh of relief that Natalie wasn't going to spill their secret. Jennifer also let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding, figuring that Natalie was still in the dark about the truth.
Without even looking at the disownment papers, Natalie signed them, having memorized the content from a past life.
Though she was the Simpson family's own flesh and blood, they never recognized her as such. Believed to be raised in a town marred by poverty, Natalie was presented by her family as an adopted child, a facade they maintained to shield their secret.
She pocketed one copy and texted her brother, James Shawn, urgency in her fingers. [Heading home. Jennifer from the Simpsons framed me. Need evidence in 20 minutes.]
Natalie was on the verge of making her exit, but hot before springing a grand surprise on Jennifer.
At the same time, people nearby kept talking quietly about how wicked Natalie seemed to them. Despite feeling emotionally numb from the pain, she handed the other copy to Nick with a flat tone. "All yours, Mr. Simpson." Nick took it, trying to hide his turmoil behind indifference.
Natalie's gaze fell on Easton, who was still holding onto the divorce papers. She'd blacked out after he'd slapped her twice to side with Jennifer. It had been three years, and she almost forgot her ability to stand up to someone like him.
Natalie chuckled inwardly at her own romantic tendencies as she took the divorce papers from Easton. His handsome, chiseled looks hinted at his distinguished heritage and privileged upbringing in Shagrity. It was clear why Jennifer was so keen on capturing his heart.
With a forced smile, Natalie silently decided it was the last time she'd let Easton hurt her. "Easton, I've been there for you these past two years, caring for you without fail. I've honored our marriage."
Easton was taken aback, remembering her constant care. Her sad smile made him uneasy, but he couldn't ignore his disgust at her cruelty towards Jennifer.
"You've always found a way to avoid this, Natalie, but now you've gone too far," he said, his voice tight with anger. "But because of your care and for Jennifer's sake, I'm willing to give you another chance."
Natalie's laughter was bitter as tears ran down her face. "I don't need your pity, Easton. You've never really seen me, never trusted me. You're perfect for Jennifer. Since you two are so in love, I'm happy to step aside."
Easton was furious, ready to argue, but then he watched as Natalie signed the divorce papers without hesitation, her decision farm
