Rejected, And Became A Heiress (Cara)

Chapter 0129

Colin's POV

I feel bad interrupting Cara's weekend alone, especially since Eamon was insisted she take this time for herself.

But the mischievous twins had other ideas.

"If she doesn't want us around, we'll just drop off these goodies and leave!"

Ryan is rummaging through the lunch boxes, each one packed with delicious, albeit completely unhealthy food-burgers, fried chicken, pizza.

I frown. "Ryan, you know this stuff isn't nutritious. And Cara deserves a peaceful weekend alone."

"Oh, come on, brother. We're just delivery guys for the surprise party!" Aidan throws an arm around my shoulder, grinning. "These are Arbun-special homemade meals. Way better than all those bland, healthy things you eat. We just want to share some joy with our sister!"

"And," Ryan adds, lowering his voice, "Bedford's been harassing her again. It's been stressing her out. If we happen to catch him snooping around, it'd be the perfect chance to deal with him."

Cara's spare key is hidden under the potted plant by the door, so we let ourselves in. But as soon as we step inside, we spot something that makes all of us tense up: a pair of men's dress shoes near the entrance. Our hearts sink.

Could Bedford really have forced his way into Cara's home?

Sadly, it's no secret that the goddess's rules make female wolves physically weaker than male wolves. If a male wolf decided to hurt her, she'd have little chance to fight him off.

The three of us exchange uneasy glances. Ryan carefully sets the lunch boxes on the floor, clears his throat, and says loudly, "Hey, we're definitely going to give her a big surprise. Like, a huge surprise party!"

I chime in, playing along. "Keep your voice down. She's been tired lately; she might still be sleeping."

Aidan, always quick on his feet, adds, "Should someone check if she's awake? Just-be quiet about it, alright?"

Still, there's no response from inside the house.

But the scent of another man lingers in the air. He's here.

In her home.

And worse, he might be in her bedroom.

Without waiting, Aidan starts walking toward the bedroom, his steps slow and deliberate.

"Hey, Cara, are you awake...?" His voice grows quieter as he pushes the door open.

Then comes a loud, stunned shout: "Alaric?! Why the hell are you here?!"

Cara's POV

"I love you, Cara," Alaric says.

For a moment, the entire world goes silent. I don't even hear my brothers bursting through the door or Aidan's startled scream.

I glance up, meeting his piercing blue eyes-eyes that once seemed so distant but now hold a vulnerable intensity. His dark hair is slightly tousled, framing sharp, defined features that could easily make any woman falter. And without a doubt, no she-wolf could ever resist this.

"I'm sorry it took me so long to realize it, so long to finally say it. But I do. I really, truly love you."

"When I finally understood my feelings, I realized I've loved you for a long time. Maybe since six years ago, or maybe even earlier. Maybe from the moment we met. I've always loved you."

"But like an idiot, I kept denying it. I refused to admit it or face it."

"Please forgive me, Cara. I love you."

He repeats the words I once dreamed of hearing. Words I used to long for with all my heart.

"... You have to be joking," I say.

"You know I don't joke about things like this," Alaric replies firmly. "I love you, more deeply than you can imagine. I love you, Cara."

And damn it, he's serious.

I know Alaric better than anyone in this world, and there's no mistaking the sincerity in his voice. He means every word.

But I can barely form a response.

"Alaric, let go of Cara!" Aidan screams.

Chapter 0129

"What the hell is going on? Alaric?!" My other brothers rush into the room, their voices loud and frantic.

And then chaos erupts.

Their shouting overlaps, filling the room with noise that grates on my nerves.

"Enough! Get out of my room!" I yell, my voice sharp and commanding.

The rare anger in my tone stuns them into silence. My alpha aura seeps into the air, forcing them to fall quiet.

The room grows tense. Still.

After a moment, Colin takes charge, guiding the twins out of the room. He says nothing, but before leaving, he gently closes the door behind him.. Now it's just me and Alaric.

I sigh and walk over to the bed, sitting down heavily.

That small action seems to spark hope in Alaric. His eyes light up, bright and eager. "Cara..."

He says my name softly, and then, as if spurred by sudden realization, he begins rummaging through his suit pocket.

After a moment, he pulls out a small velvet box.

Hesitating for only a moment, he takes a deep breath, steadies himself, and kneels on one knee in front of me on the carpet.

"Cara," he says, holding the box out, his face filled with anticipation and a trace of nervousness. "I didn't expect you to forgive me so easily. But if you're willing to trust me again, I swear I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you-" As he starts to open the velvet box, I catch a glimpse of the diamond's glint inside.

He's actually proposing. Right here, right now.

He's seriously proposing to me.

But before he can fully open the box, I stop him, my face expressionless.

""Get out," I say.

"What...?" Alaric freezes, his expression stunned.

"I said, get out," I repeat, my tone calm but firm

"Cara, I-"

"Get. Out."

I cut him off before he can say anything more. "When I told everyone to leave my room

earlier, that included you."

"But, Cara-"

"Out," I say again. "Now."
