Return Of The Real Heiress: Secrets And Masks

Chapter My Billionaire Family 190

The next morning, before dawn, Steven arrived at Apartment 2602 of Glenshire Gardens.

He seemed to be in quite a rush.

Morris had been busy until late last night. Now draped in a dark gray robe, he emerged from the room, with slightly sleepy eyes and somewhat messy blond hair. Lifting his gaze to glance at Steven, he spoke with a bit of morning grumpiness. "Shoot!"

Steven nodded. "Sir, there's news from the high-security prison that Mandy is now in a vegetative state."

Morris showed no expression after hearing this and just gave a slight nod.

Steven continued, "We've also received reports from the underground prison. Felix has lost his mind, is incontinent, and keeps shouting for help."

"Got it. You can go back now." Morris nodded and returned to his room after saying that.

In the 8 AM news report that morning, the leading TV channel of Clusia broadcast a major news story, which left the whole nation in shock.

[Felix, CEO of the Lewis Group in Betrico, was suspected of multiple serious crimes and was arrested yesterday at a luxury hotel in the city.]

When this news was reported and all of Felix's incriminating evidence was laid out, nearly all the people in Clusia yelled out in anger, feeling satisfied at seeing justice finally served considering all the horrible things Felix had done. However, before most people could even process the explosive news, an hour later, the top-rated TV station in Betrico aired two more significant stories.

[Mandy, a resident of Betrico, charged with intentional murder involving more than two victims with particularly severe circumstances, was arrested yesterday at Chambers International Hotel in Betrico.]

[Shirley, the daughter of the appellant, was accused of attempted murder-for-hire and was arrested yesterday. As no actual harm was caused, a lighter sentence will be considered, though jail time is unavoidable.] The entire internet almost crashed as soon as these three news stories were released.

No one could have imagined that the once reputable CEO of the Lewis Group, the wife of the prestigious Leach family, and the cherished Leach heiress would suddenly find themselves in prison.

[No wonder the high-profile engagement ceremony of the Chambers and Leach families was suddenly called off yesterday.]

[These people truly have no respect for the law. In Betrico, right under the ruler's nose, they dare to break the law and kill someone.]

[This shattered my worldview. People shouldn't be too greedy.]

[They asked for it; as the saying goes, those who invite trouble upon themselves can't survive.]

[I have secretly had a crush on Shirley before. I must have been blind. Yuck!]

On the same day, due to the release of these three explosive news stories, the stocks of the Leach Group and Chambers Group took a nosedive and started a streak of decline. Taking advantage of the current downturn, Melissa announced on Twitter her temporary departure from the entertainment industry to study business management in Fresburg.

Maybe people would fiercely criticize and curse for a while, and then slowly forget about it. After all, new things quickly would replace everything from before.

In Hamolica, the weather was warm and sunny. The backyard of the Muller residence was exquisitely decorated, with small bridges, pavilions, and towers built over flowing streams and vibrant flowers blooming, showcasing elegance and grandeur. In a delicate pavilion, an elderly lady, Rita, dressed simply yet elegantly, sat on a fancy rocking chair and accepted a blue-and-white porcelain coffee cup from a nearby servant.

She opened the lid, let out some steam, and took a graceful sip.

Not far away, a graceful, familiar figure slowly walked towards her.

As the visitor approached, she politely stood aside and called, "Grandma."

Rita nodded when she saw the visitor, put down her coffee cup, and said to the servant nearby, "Off you go."

"Yes, ma'am." The servant replied and quickly left the pavilion.

Once everyone had left, Rita looked at the young woman in front of her. "Yulia, is everything ready for your trip to Betrico this time?"

"Yes, everything is set. I won't let you down, Grandma." The person responding was Yulia, the eldest daughter of the Muller family of Hamolica, who was sitting upright as she earnestly answered Rita's questions.

Upon hearing this, Rita smiled slightly, nodding in satisfaction. "Yes, my granddaughter is bound to be outstanding."

Yulia said nothing in response and just gave a faint smile.

The elderly lady shown was none other than the mistress of the Muller family, Mrs. Muller; she was also Rita and Yulia's grandmother.
