Revenge of the Scorned Witch

Chapter 9 — Scandal

The spells that I am working on are not to hurt Ellis but to put him under my control. Basically, what I plan to do is have him sign everything over to me, all but the place in the woods-that's going to stay his so I can frame him as a terrorist, which I'm not certain he isn't with all the weapons, bulletproof vests, and nonperishable food items that are being stored in the house. I meticulously set the next stage of my plan into motion by having Bryan send an anonymous tip into the FBI. Then, we just sit back at wait for the pieces to fall into place.

Later that afternoon, I received a fax about the fingerprints we sent off from all the weapons out at Ellis's secret place, and just as we thought, the fingerprints matched Ellis's. Now we had enough evidence to set him up as a terrorist. "A Terrorist in our Midst,' not a bad title for a book." Bryan laughs. "Or something like 'My life as a Terrorist's Girlfriend.""

I just look over at him shaking my head, then start laughing along. It was hard not to get caught up in his dry humor. The Oklahoma FBI office knew that Bryan was still in the state and called him up to investigate Ellis further. That gave us the perfect opportunity to send them the fax that we had just received. We set to work on getting everything we could on Ellis, but first, I had to make it through the date I had with him tonight. I hadn't really spoken to him since he got upset the other day, just a text asking for a date tonight, which I had reluctantly agreed to. I groaned when it was time for me to get ready for my date. I just laid back in my towel on my bed, not wanting to go out. I was fed up with Ellis and his attitude toward people. Just because they didn't think like him or act like him, they weren't good enough to be around him or his family. Luckily Bryan came in, grabbed the sluttiest dress I owned from my closet, and ordered me to put it on, then got my stilettos out for me. Next, he pushed me onto the closed toilet seat and proceeded to do my makeup and hair. After he was done, I took a look in the mirror. I looked like a model.

"I haven't worn this dress since I was in California," I said, turning to look at my best friend.

"I know, and can I just say, if I wasn't gay, I would take you right now." He said, blushing. Just then, Ellis knocked on the door then let himself inside. "Hey, Bryan, is Joy ready?" He asked as Bryan stepped out of my bedroom.

"She is, but you are a little underdressed, don't you think?" Bryan says, looking at Ellis in his stained pants, camo shirt, and work boots. Ellis just gives him a questioning look as I walked into the room in my satin blue strapless dress that comes down just above my knees. I just laugh as I watch his mouth drop onto the floor.

"I was just going to take you to the movies, but..."

I cut him off before he could finish by saying, "Well, I can go change into something different." Just as I was fixing to turn to head back into my room, he reached for my arm. "No, please don't, I'll go change." Ellis stampers. "Bryan, you think you could help me? I'm not used to dressing like that." He says, gesturing in my direction.

"Well, for one, I don't think you would look good in a dress. But let's go see what I got to work with." Bryan says as we head to Ellis's house. I stay behind for a little bit to take a picture of the spells with my phone then burn them in the kitchen sink. I then grab my purse on the way out. When I walk into Ellis's house, he was just finishing up with Bryan's help. I almost didn't recognize him since he was in dress boots, new blue jeans, a white dress shirt, and one of Bryan's sports coats. He was even clean shaven.

"Wow!" I exclaim. "You look great!"

"You think so?" He says, looking a little uncertain.

"Yes, I do," I assure him. Ellis thanks Bryan, and we head to Ardmore for our date, except when we get into Ardmore, he gets on the interstate and starts heading north.

"Where are you taking me?" I ask, a little nervous. "I thought we were going to the movies."

"Well, I thought since you look like a million bucks, you deserve a special night out in a fabulous restaurant." He explains and sets my mind at ease. An hour later, we pull into a restaurant that I had never heard of before called Vast. For the little portions of food (which was amazing), it had a big price. I was relieved when Ellis pulled into a Sonic on our way home. I had to admit, it was really sweet of him because my stomach had been growling ever since we left the restaurant. He orders his Sonic burger and fries while I order my usual popcorn chicken. We sit and talk about nothing until the food arrives. That's when we turn into ravenous beasts that had caught their prey. We made it home a little after one in the morning, which was great since I was too tired to answer a half a million questions from everybody, mainly my two adorable daughters, who I think have hashed out their own plan to try to get me and their father together for good, which I hate to tell them isn't going to work.

I haven't seen any evidence that my children have inherited my magical gene. But since it mainly passed down through the female side, I'm pretty sure my boys aren't magical. My girls, on the other hand, might just be late bloomers, like a few others I have met.

I tell Ellis goodnight then unlock my door only to see that Bryan is still up laying on the couch watching tv.

"So, how did it go?" He asks, sitting up stretching.

"It went great. He to me to Vast in the city, then he took me to Sonic because we were still hungry." I laughed.

"Wow, Vast. I heard that was an expensive place, way to go Ellis, knocking some of that dust off his wallet." He laughs. "But what's with the Sonic trip?"

"He took me there because we were still hungry. The portions at the restaurant were small." I explained.

"So he fed you twice, that is so sweet." Bryan squeaked.

"Yes, he did, and yes, it was, but now I am tired, so I'm going to bed. Sweet dreams, Bryan." I say.

"You too, Joy. I'll see you in the morning." He says back.

Then we both head off to our rooms for some well-deserved sleep because we knew that we would need to be well rested for the coming weeks ahead.
