Meryl's voice was cold. "Didn't you say you had already talked to

him that day? Now he's taken Bella and won't even answer Anne's calls!"

Chandler could tell Meryl was furious. "Let me look into it," he said immediately.

Anne suddenly burst into tears without warning. Meryl's heart

ached at the sight, and she ended the call in frustration, turning her attention to comforting Anne. Chandler felt a mix of helplessness and guilt, knowing Meryl's anger was partially directed at him.

He called Dante, but to his surprise, Dante didn't pick up as well.

At that moment, Walter walked in with some documents. "The fire

at the Walker Villa has sent their family's stock plummeting." The fire at Walker Villa last night had been the talk of the town. Galaxy Holdings Group had a long-standing partnership with the Walker family. Only a few days earlier, Chandler had met with them to discuss business.

During their meeting, they had made it clear they were determined

to secure the plot of land in the eastern suburbs.

Walter added casually, "The Walker family has pulled out of the bidding. Now, the Powell family is the frontrunner."

But Chandler wasn't paying much attention. His mind was still on Meryl's call.

Unable to get through to Dante by phone, Chandler grabbed his coat and headed straight to Dante's residence.

The security guards recognized him and let him in without issue.

As soon as he entered the house, he was greeted by the sound of a baby crying.

Chandler frowned and thought, "That idiot really did take the

child."

Hearing the noise, Dante emerged from the room. He was scruffy, looking a bit disheveled, with a yellow urine stain on his white shirt that he hadn't gotten around to changing. "Chandler, what are you doing here?" Dante asked, descending the stairs. He took a few steps before his expression hardened as though recalling something.

"You've got some nerve, Chandler! You had me locked in a holding cell for five days! Do you have any idea what I went through in there?"

The place had been dark and freezing, so Dante was still harboring a grudge against Chandler for putting him through it.

Chandler sat calmly on the couch as a servant brought him a

drink.

He glanced at Dante with thinly veiled disdain. "Those five days were supposed to help you sober up. Clearly, they didn't. You're stili as brainless as ever."

Dante was taken aback by the insult. "What did I do wrong?"

"You took the child from the hospital without a word! Do you have any idea how much more this will make Anne hate you? She nearly died giving birth to that child. What gives you the right to take her away just like that?" Chandler's sharp words left Dante momentarily speechless.

After a long pause, Dante muttered, "I only took her so Anne would come to me."

Chandler pressed him further. "And what if she doesn't?"

Dante froze, then quickly retorted, "The baby is here with me, she'll come!"

"So you admit it? You're using the baby as leverage to manipulate

her."

The accusation stung, and Dante hastily denied it. "She's my daughter! How could I use her as leverage?"

"But you are," Chandler said pointedly. "You're using her as a

pawn, and it's only driving Anne further away. That's all I have to say. Think about it."

With that, Chandler stood and left without another word.

Upstairs, Bella's cries were loud, and the maid was feeding her.

Dante had been released from holding earlier that morning and had gone straight to the hospital to take Bella.

He believed the baby was the glue that could bind him and Anne together, and she was a link that couldn't be severed. By taking Bella, he was sure Anne would come running to negotiate. That way, he could regain control.

Dante had planned his next move, demand that Yancey leave Anne's home. Once Yancey was out of the picture, Dante was confident he could rekindle his relationship with Anne.

But to his dismay, it wasn't Anne who showed up. It was Chandler.

Dante thought, "Anne should have been discharged by now. Why hasn't she come?"

"Does she hate me that much? Hate me so much she won't even
