Sniping Her Mafia King

Chapter Epilogue

Addy looked at Artemis with annoyance. "Is this really necessary?"

"Do you want to come and watch or not?" Deidre voiced her irritation with the way he was behaving. "Seriously, Addy. I know for a fact you blindfold Arwen all the time. You can handle it for a short drive in a car to HQ and back." He pointed at Deidre and then glared at Artemis. "I blame you. Six months. It's been six months of her working for you, and she has turned into a mini version of you. She was sweet and innocent and now she's crass and rude." "I didn't steal her innocence," Artemis grinned, "that was the young buck hockey player she has wrapped so tightly around her finger he's trying to get traded to New York."

"It's not her finger she has wrapped around him," Psych-One snorted.

Deidre glared at her, "that was gross and I'm telling Juno if you ever say it again." She looked back to Addy, "are you in or out?"

"In." he grumbled as sat squished between Deidre and Artemis in the back seat of a limousine. A woman he'd never seen before sat with Psych-One on the opposite bench. "Who is she?" "None of your business?"

"If I'm going to be blindfolded in the back seat of a car with four women, I feel I should know all their names. I know three of you. I don't know her."

"The name is Robyn. I am here to make sure you don't do anything stupid. If you do, I will shoot you. Arwen trained me and I love her like a big sister. I really don't want to have to tell her I killed her husband, so if you could just put the f*****g blindfold on, it would be great."

He put the blindfold over his eyes and then jumped when he felt a bag go over it. "Really?"

"We don't trust you, Cavallaro." Artemis laughed at his unease.

"How many Robyn's has Arwen trained?" he asked from inside the bag. It was really dark. He didn't like it.

"Hundreds and every single one of us would kill for her."

"Good to know," he would have rolled his eyes if they weren't closed behind the damn mask.

They drove for nearly twenty minutes before the noises of the New York City nightlife disappeared and silence filled them. He knew they had pulled off the busy streets into a parking garage. The car came to a stop and the girl named Robyn told him not to remove the bag or mask or to move his hands in any way or she should shoot him. Only when he was in position in HQ could he take it off.

"This is the weirdest bullshit I've ever engaged in, and I run a mob," he mocked them. Someone pushed him from behind and he stumbled and grunted. He heard elevator doors opening, heard the ting of a floor being selected and then the feeling of the elevator rising under him. It was a long way up. He was certain he counted at least thirty floors. Wherever HQ was, it was a skyscraper in Manhattan. They hadn't driven far enough from his hotel for it to be anywhere else.

He was escorted through the doors once they opened and the sudden chattering of women ceasing made him perk his ears up. "I take it this is a first?"

"It's a second but they took bets as to whether or not you'd actually agree to wear the mask and come. Almost everyone was pretty sure you'd refuse." Deidre laughed at him. Posted by FindNovel.net; visit us for more free novels.

"Are you kidding? I get to watch a mission from HQ. You could have told me you needed me tranquilized first and I would have come." He scoffed as he got put into a room and shoved into a seat.

His hood and mask were removed, and he was in what he could call a small theatre like room. Huge screens took up an entire wall. He grinned when he saw the other man in the room. "Torben!" So, he was who was first.

"Addy. They blindfolded you too huh?" He shook his head. "Usually, I watch from home, but they said they were bringing you in to watch so I wanted to come too."

"Gentlemen, need I remind you of the rules?" Artemis raised an eyebrow.

"No ma'am," Torben grinned and winked at Addy.

"Then sit there and enjoy the show. I believe our teams are almost in position."

Addy knew Deidre nervous. Arwen's team and two others were on a mission in South America. She had been cleared to tell him a group of at least thirty women and quite possibly more were being detained for trafficking. The three teams, all from New York, were in position to take out the group holding them, get the girls out and then make their way home.

"Alpha-One, Two, Three," Artemis spoke into a microphone as her screens lit up, "we are live and ready to go. I wait for Alpha-One to give the final go-ahead."

Addy leaned forward and watched as several different camera angles filled the oversized screen. He tried to pick out which one was Arwen's camera. He immediately recognized Clara Draxton's clipped tone.

"Alpha-One responding. We are in position."

"Delta-Two, give me a rundown of how many people you are seeing?"

"It's a gang of nearly one hundred and twenty-five based on heat signatures." Arwen's voice was as clear as if she were in the room. "I've been able to confirm from my vantage point the location of the dungeon. Heat signatures in the room are roughly forty-three but I could be off. One heat signature looks like two. My assessment is it's a mother and child. The child is likely an infant. Perhaps born here."

"f**k," Artemis cursed furiously. "Who throws a pregnant woman in for trafficking?"

"The same kind of sick f**k who wants a breeder. If she's fertile he knows she'll be able to produce." Jesse's voice spoke up. "Do we know who this shipment was intended for?"

"A buyer in Miami." Artemis advised, "we have teams in Miami ready to strike as soon as you have possession of the girls. We can't take the Miami group and have your group tipped off. You first, them second. Got it?"

"Yes ma'am." Jesse's voice spoke again. "Waiting Alpha-One's command."

"Let's do this as we discussed," Clara said firmly.

"Meh, I prefer when we just go in and annihilate everything," Naomi quipped.

Addy shook his head. He'd met her several times now. She was mouthy but something told him what she was saying was not her usual method. He reminded her of the kind of woman who said things to throw people off their game before she buried them. "Sure, it is, Alpha-Three," Arwen's voice cut in, "it's why you made us repeat the damn mission goals twelve times in the jet and once while we were parachuting. Because you like to not have plans."

Bliss' voice rang out, "Delta-Two has your number, Alpha-Three. Should I be worried about how well she knows you?"

"Delta-Three, you don't have to worry. We tried the threesome thing, and it didn't work."

Deidre sneered at Arwen's comment and Addy leaned back in his chair in surprise.

Another voice Addy didn't know perked up, "explain to me why she got to have the threesome, but I almost got killed by my Alpha for simply working with her wife?" Addy grinned as he realized this must be Lolita.

Naomi cut in, "nobody had a threesome with my wife and me. Do I strike any of you as the kind who would share?"

"Nope," Jesse cut in. "I tried to take one of your French fries off your plate and you stabbed me with a fork."

"Two rules, Alpha-Two. Don't touch my food. Don't touch my wife."

The girls all cackled.

"Ladies," Artemis cut in, "may I remind you; you are there to rescue a bunch of women, not play sorority sisters."

"Aw, Artemis, we can do both," Cat's voice cut in. "Just you watch." She positioned her camera, so it was on Jesse. "I've got my Alpha's six in view. Let's get it on!"

Arwen's voice cut in, "Alpha-One, you have a straggler just to your left. Looks like he's taking a piss."

"Take the shot," Alpha-One commanded. "I have bigger fish to fry, and I hate when they piss on me when their d***s are out."

Addy watched with interest as the red and orange figure through Arwen's camera froze and dropped. "One." Arwen's voice taunted.

"You don't get to play, sniper," Cat called out. "You cheat. You've taken my targets right out from me."

Addy watched through another camera as Cat and Jesse both came into view. Two men directly in front of them. He tilted his head as Jesse expertly twisted the man's neck and ended his life. He looked over to Torben to see his reaction to his fiancée killing another man and the expression on his friend's face surprised him. He was enraptured to say the least. He would even have guessed turned on. His friend was a freak. It made Addy chuckle.

Torben looked to Addy with a grin. "Did you see that? You should see her with her knives. It's beautiful."

Addy laughed at his words.

Another voice cut in, "hey Delta-Two, do you see what I'm seeing in the top window of the furthest building?"

"Delta-One," Arwen's voice was excited, "I sure do."

Artemis cut in, "what are we looking at ladies? Do we finally have a face to our cartel leader?"

Addy knew Delta-One was Arwen's friend Corry. He tried to make out what the two girls' cameras were focused on and then he sat back as it became clear. "Is he -?" his voice trailed off as both he and Torben looked at each other.

"Ladies, can one of you please make a confirmation on the possible identity of the governor's brother as our cartel leader? How the f**k did we miss this?" Artemis' paused, "I don't care if it's alive or dead considering he's smoking a cigar like he owns the place." "On it," Jesse and Clara spoke unanimously.

Addy watched as his cousin and the other woman raced through the cover of the darkness. He admitted he was impressed the way Jesse climbed the side of the building, using a hook she had flung up to a window. She and Clara both landed on the man's balcony at the same time and startled him. Jesse stabbed him in the leg while Clara's arms swung everywhere. Addy noted as she stepped back, he was covered in several wide cuts all over his torso, the deepest running straight across his middle.

"Holy s**t," he muttered at the violence the diminutive woman had unleashed.

Jesse held up a finger Addy hadn't even noticed her cutting off and grinned, "I'm sending you, his prints. Is he a match?"

Deidre was at a computer and then nodded, "it's a match."

Jesse grabbed the man, who amazingly was still breathing. "All the things in the world and you wanted to own a woman?" She held his head backwards and Clara slit his throat. They threw him over the balcony. The action created a cacophony of screams as men in the square of the little village raced to find out what happened.

"Oh my god, are we playing fish in a barrel?" Arwen exclaimed excitedly.

"Looks like it," Corry answered.

"I'm so in," Bliss yipped with glee.

In seconds, the ten or so men who had raced to the dead man were laying on the ground around him.

"They enjoy their work too much," Deidre complained as she typed on her laptop. She motioned to Artemis, "we are six minutes in. Choppers in fourteen."

"Ladies, we have the first chopper arriving in fourteen. Can we get this show on the road please?" Artemis interrupted the banter.

Addy scowled at her behind her back. He was enjoying the repartee of the women as they all moved to the locations they were assigned. She was making them rush and he wanted to take it all in slowly.

"Alpha-Two," Arwen's voice cut in, "you have two men in the alley to your right. Both are armed."

"Why doesn't she just take the shot?" Addy questioned nobody in particular.

"Because the Alphas get pissy if they don't get a bit of hand-to-hand in," Torben responded with a grin. At Artemis frown he didn't back down, "I'm not wrong." Artemis shrugged and turned away and Torben laughed. Addy noted a dark corner on one of the screens, "hey, what's the dark room over there."

"Where?" Artemis gave him a funny look.

"There's a void, there, left hand screen to the bottom. Not sure whose camera is on it but it's a void. All of their cameras pick up everything but they're not getting through there. Why?" He stared at it.

"Beta-Three, adjust your camera a fraction to the right please?" Artemis instructed Lolita

Lolita turned her body camera in the direction as instructed and then walked towards it. "It's a small utility shed."

"Yes, but we can see only eighty percent of it. Does anyone else have eyes on what Beta-Three is looking at? Why is a portion of this room invisible?"

Clara's voice cut in. "I see it. I'm going to bet my entire fortune they have computers hidden in the space. He wasn't on our intel list as the ringleader here but it's obvious he has been using the alias. It's why we never got a photo of his face. Our political friend was tech savvy, so he's built a little room."

Addy watched the woman weave and bob through several men, slicing necks and killing them with glee as she raced to Lolita's location. He exhaled loudly, "remind me never to f**k with Draxton. Did you see that Torben? She easily just went through ten men like they were butter."

Clara's camera picked up the smaller room no bigger than an outhouse and her cackle was infectious. It contained a small desk, a computer and wiring. "This is amazing." She was running her fingers along the keyboard. "Sending this info back to HQ. It's a freaking list of buyers, clients, and contributors. It's the tiniest room I've ever seen."

"Maybe he goes in there to jerk off and watch porn," Arwen's voice cut into Clara's thoughts. "You sure you want to touch the keyboard with your bare hand?"

"f**k you Delta-Two," Clara lifted a finger into her camera. "He's built the room out of metal like he's got a bunch of hardware in here and it's cold and it has electricity but the only thing in it is the one computer. He must have had problems with heat or humidity affecting his computers in the past. I have a broom closet bigger than this so his materials must have been expensive to get in."

Artemis looked over her shoulder at Addy, "nice find. We would have torched the place. I didn't even notice the void."

He was unsure of how to respond so he just nodded.

"We have the girls," Naomi's voice cut in. "Heading to the rendezvous point. One of the women gave birth in the last few hours. The guards apparently haven't checked on them since dinner, so they didn't know."

It was the first time Addy noticed a team of five, including Naomi, Isabella, Josephine, Sabine and the last one he didn't recognize so it had to be Chyna, had found the women while the rest of the girls were busy killing and distracting anyone getting too close to where they'd been kept. He watched Naomi's camera angle as the women were quickly escorted through the encampment and into a clearing.

He was about to point out there were men coming up behind them based on the vantage of Arwen's camera but then he shook his head when he realized whose camera it was. He watched as the men dropped to the ground before they could fire their own weapons. Deidre spoke from where she sat at her computer, "Artemis tell Alpha-One her delivery is complete."

Artemis did as Deidre suggested and then continued, "Beta-Three, all women are accounted for. Please position your devices while the rest of the team finishes with the targets. Ladies, get your asses in gear and head to your pick-up. Delta-Two, you ready to put on a show?"

Arwen's voice cut in, "yes ma'am. I cannot wait to see what Beta-Three cooked up for me."

"Do you need to relocate to a safer distance?"

"Nah, how bad can it be?" Arwen quipped.

Addy stood up. "What is she doing?"

Deidre didn't look up from her computer, "Firestarter, our nickname for Delta-Three, likes to design exploding chemical weapons which burn brighter than the f*****g sun. They get remotely detonated. Arwen likes to test them out. In fifteen minutes, the entire encampment will be a god-damned black circle. The fire will literally pull in on itself and put itself out."

"Piccola, you've been swearing too much lately. What do you mean by exploding chemical weapons? Is Arwen safe setting this off?" He sat back down and gripped the arms of his chair.

"We haven't tested this one yet in real time. Only controlled settings." Psych-One spoke. "It's not saying much for your marriage though Addy when your wife literally volunteers to be the one to set this s**t off and risk death."

He tossed her a sideways glance, "it says everything about my marriage. The only way she can get anything more exciting than me is to blow up encampments in the rainforest." "You didn't invite us," Artemis glared at him.

"We didn't invite anyone," he tossed back. "We did a drive through chapel in Vegas on our way to my island."

"Uh, I was invited," Deidre threw him under the bus.

"We needed a witness," Addy shrugged, "and your cousin was freaking out about all the plans my aunt was making. It was easier to elope than let Fabiana fill a cathedral."

"She was freaking out." Deidre agreed. They watched the teams evacuate the area. Lolita was racing through the jungle and then you could hear two voices close together. "Welcome to my nest, Beta-Three," Arwen's voice was happy as she positioned her rifle.

"Glad to be here," Lolita's excitement was palpable. "I hope this works like it should. This is going to be better than s*x."

"You're doing s*x wrong if you think this," Arwen mocked her.

"Is this where you tell me married life is all about the best s*x you've ever had?" Lolita teased back.

"No." Arwen shook her head and sighed loudly, "I'm just saying if you're comparing an explosion to s*x, I'd rather have the s*x, even married life s*x."

Torben chortled at her comment and Addy glared at the screen before shooting his friend an angry glance.

Suddenly, Arwen called ignition and fired her gun. The entire screen went white, then fuzzy and pixilated.

Addy jumped up and gripped his chest in terror and noted Deidre had too, risen from her chair. "What the f**k?"

"Delta-Two, please report," Artemis' voice was echoing through Addy's head. "Delta-Two, please report."

After several long seconds, Arwen's voice spoke and Addy flopped back into the seat, gasping for breath.

"Delta-Two and Beta-Three are both accounted for I have it recorded on three other cameras, so I'll send video separately, but it was beautiful. I stand corrected on the o****m thing. My panties are soaked."

The collective chuckle of all the girls echoed into the room and then Arwen's voice filtered back in, "also, Artemis, I know you have my husband there listening in. Let the King know his queen is on her way home and ready to face the consequences of her actions." She gave a loud chortle of laughter before Artemis shut down the lines of communication.

He sat back in the chair and laughed with relief and pride. His wife, his queen, his love, was on her way home to him. While the group in the room were busy discussing flights home and debriefs, Torben made his way to him. "What did you think?" Torben's blue eyes were wide and excited. "Thrilling right?"

"It was something else. I believe my grandfather made a mistake in wanting me to take over our family instead of Jesse. She's far more ruthless than I am."

Torben laughed, "no she's not. You forget how well I know you, my friend."

"Perhaps," he acknowledged Torben's comment. "How is wedding planning coming along?"

"Well, thanks to your elopement," Torben gave him a look, "my mother-in-law is not going to be satisfied with a small church wedding. She is now wanting everyone to fly to Italy."

Addy chuckled, "I know, she already asked if we could do it at the vineyard. I agreed. You can afford it."

Torben cursed and then changed topic. "Did you hear the latest?" Torben grinned, "Portia's pregnant again. Fabiana is losing her mind trying to set a date where she'll still be able to fly."

Deidre heard the comment, "Portia missed one birth control pill. One. I've never been so glad to have an IUD."

Addy grimaced at her, "never tell me these things. Ever. Not ever, piccola."

She rolled her eyes and turned back to her computer mumbling about over-protective parental figures.

"You'll make a good father, someday, Addy." Torben looked to Deidre and back to him. "You're good with her."

He ignored Deidre's snort and shook his head, "we have eight chickens, two goats, a dog and Deidre. Arwen will castrate me if I mention children." He and Torben shared a laugh at his words and Deidre flung a pen at him.

He looked over his shoulder at the girl with her hair tied confidently off her face, no longer hiding her scars from the world. As much as he blamed Artemis for Deidre's foul mouth, her confidence blooming had everything to do with being immersed in the world of Bellona. He was proud of her. "Are you ready to go home soon, piccola? Arwen left us ham and biscuits."

She glared at him, "why are you just telling me this now?" She slammed her laptop shut. "We could have watched this from home and ate sandwiches?"

"And miss this experience?" he waved the mask from his chair around his finger. "A day in the life of a Bellona agent. What a rush."

While Artemis and Deidre worked out his escort home, Addy looked down at his phone at an incoming text from Arwen. It was a simple statement of three words, and he felt his heart soar as it did every time, she said them. As he typed back, he loved her too, he felt his smile broaden when she responded with an arrow through the heart emoji. The heart of the mafia king had been sniped by a Bellona agent and he wouldn't have it any other way.

The End.
