Chapter CHAPTER 110 - After Care
Ryan
Shelia and Whitney stood there, looking guilty and nervous. I could feel my wolf and dragon both demanding justice for what they had done to Lyra. "This is your last chance to tell the truth," I growled, taking a step towards them. "Did you conspire with each other to use dark magic against Lyra?" Shelia's eyes darted around the clearing, looking for an escape. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said, her voice trembling.
But Whitney's expression told a different story. She looked guilty as sin, and I could see the fear in her eyes.
"It's true," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "We did it. We used dark magic to give Brittany an advantage in the fight. We didn't want Lyra to win." She then whirled on Shelia. "You were the one who came up with this plan!" Whitney shouted, pointing a finger at Shelia. "You said it would be easy to take down that wolfless nobody!"
My blood boiled with rage as I listened to Whitney's confession. How dare they use dark magic against my mate? They had no right to interfere with the Luna trials or to harm Lyra in any way.
Shelia scoffed, her face twisting into a sneer. "Oh please, you were more than happy to go along with it. You and your daddy wanted to rule over Ryan by any means possible."
"Enough!" I roared, my voice echoing through the hall. The two women fell silent, their eyes wide with fear. "You will pay for what you have done," I snarled, my wolf and dragon both demanding revenge.
The crowd roared their approval at my words. They knew that what Shelia and Whitney had done was unforgivable.
I turned to Conner and Liam, who stood at attention nearby. "Take them to the darkest, dreariest cell we have. They will remain there until I decide their fate."
Conner nodded, his face grim. "Yes, Alpha."
I motioned for a few other soldiers to join them. "Make sure they are secure. I want no chance of escape."
As they were led away, Whitney struggled against her captors. "Ryan, please! I didn't mean for it to go this far!"
I turned my back on her, my heart hardening. "You should have thought of that before you conspired against my mate."
Shelia remained silent. Hher head held high even as she was dragged away. I knew she would not go down without a fight.
As the two women were escorted out of the clearing, I turned my attention back to Lyra. She was still unconscious, but her breathing was steady and strong. Wista stepped forward, a concerned look on her face.
"She will need rest and time to recover," she said, placing a hand on Lyra's forehead. "But she will be okay. The necklace did its job and protected her from the worst of the dark magic."
I let out a sigh of relief, thankful that Lyra was going to be okay. I knew that she would never give up, no matter what challenges she faced. She was a true warrior, and I was proud to call her my mate. Looking down at her so small and fragile in my arms, I said in a voice choked with emotion, "I'm so sorry, my love. I should have protected you better."
She shook her head, a small smile on her lips. "You couldn't have known. But you're here now, and that's all that matters."
I gathered her in my arms, holding her close. "I will always be here for you, Lyra. No matter what."
Killian spoke up. "We need to get her to a healer. She's been through a lot."
I nodded, already mind-linking with the healer to meet me at my home.
I cradled Lyra close to me as we lay in bed, her head resting on my chest. The healer had assured me that with her being the White Wolf, she would recover within a few hours instead of days. I breathed a sigh of relief, grateful for her strength and resilience.
"I was so worried about you," I whispered, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Lyra looked up at me, her eyes shining with emotion. "I know. But I'm here now, thanks to you."
I brushed a stray lock of hair from her face. "Now, we'll never be apart."
She smiled, her hand reaching up to cup my cheek, sincerity in her eyes. "I love you, Ryan. More than I ever thought possible."
My heart swelled at her words. "I love you too, Lyra. You're my everything."
"Why do you love me?" she asked, her voice soft and vulnerable.
I gazed into her eyes, letting all the love I felt for her pour out. "I love you because you're strong, brave, and kind. You have a heart that's pure and true. You've faced so much adversity, but you never let it break you. You inspire me to be a better man, a better Alpha."
Lyra's eyes glistened with unshed tears. "I love you because you see me for who I am. You didn't care that I was wolfless. You accepted me, flaws and all. You make me feel safe and cherished."
I tightened my arms around her, holding her close. "You are cherished, Lyra. More than you could ever know."
We lay there in comfortable silence, basking in the warmth of our love. I knew there were still secrets I kept from her, things I needed to tell her. But at that moment, all I wanted to do was focus on the present, on the woman in my arms. "What do you see for our future?" Lyra asked, breaking the silence.
I smiled, my mind already painting a picture. "I see us ruling the pack together, side by side. I see us building a family, surrounded by love and laughter. I see us growing old together, still as in love as we are now."
Lyra sighed contentedly, snuggling closer. "That sounds perfect."
I knew there would be challenges ahead, obstacles to overcome. But with Lyra by my side, I felt like I could face anything. One day, I would tell her about my dragon, about the power that lurked within me. But for now, I was content to hold her close and dream of our future together.
