The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 6 Mr. Carter's Failed Attempt to Win Her Over

Allison had seen this coming a mile away. She didn't want to watch Hayden grovel, so she was ready to leave with him. Just as they were about to step out, Magnus got a phone call. Suddenly, they were called back. "Mr. Bennett, hold up!" Magnus's voice stopped them in their tracks. Hayden looked at him, puzzled.

Magnus offered, "Mr. Bennett, don't worry. I'll take Allison in, and she can start right away!"

One phone call, and everything changed. Even Hayden couldn't figure out why Magnus had a change of heart.

"Magnus, are you sure about this?" Hayden asked again.

"Absolutely, how could I say no to you!" Magnus replied, then called the admin office to get Allison enrolled.

Allison didn't argue, but she knew something fishy was going on.

Even though she got to stay, Allison was put in the worst class of her grade, Class Eight.

"Ms. Skye, I really appreciate your care and support for Allison." Hayden's words made the class teacher, Nola Skye, a bit uncomfortable.

"Don't worry, Mr. Bennett. I'll take good care of Allison. I'm free now, so I'll take her to class." Nola's attitude was pretty good, which made Hayden happy.

After all, Allison was from the Bennett Family. If she wasn't important, how could she transfer in? No teacher wanted to mess with someone like her.

It was break time after the third period when Nola brought Allison into the classroom.

"Class, settle down. We have a new student today. Let's give her a warm welcome and let her introduce herself!" Nola said, leading the applause.

Allison stood at the front, grabbed a piece of chalk, and wrote her name on the blackboard. Her handwriting was bold and strong, not what you'd expect from a girl.

"Hey everyone, I'm Allison Bennett!"

The class went nuts when they heard her name.

"Did I hear that right? Is she Allison? The Allison I know?"

"What? You know her?"

"If it's really her, you all better watch out. She used to hang with delinquents in middle school and even got pregnant. She was expelled five years ago."

The gossip was nonstop. Allison heard it all but stayed cool with a cold look on her face.

"Allison, take the empty seat at the back. Everyone, get ready; class is about to start!" Nola's attitude towards Allison was still pretty good.

As Allison sat down, the class started checking her out, some with admiration, some with disdain, and some with a challenge in their eyes. For the girls, Allison's looks were too much, making her the enemy of all the other girls. "Allison, I can't believe it's really you. How do you have the nerve to come back? Weren't you kicked out by the Bennett Family? How dare you return? Isn't what happened five years ago embarrassing enough?"

The speaker was Sophia Brown, Yasmin's sidekick from five years ago. It seemed like in five years, this girl hadn't changed a bit. Apart from sucking up to the powerful and stepping on the weak, she hadn't made any progress. "Sophia, if I were you, I'd shut my mouth and mind my own business!" Allison was already a bit cranky, having not slept well last night.

Sophia mocked, "I heard the Bennett Family dumped you in Avalon City to fend for yourself! Who do you think you are? How dare you shout at me?"

In the past, Sophia often helped Yasmin bully Allison. Now that Allison was kicked out by the Bennett Family, she certainly wasn't afraid of her. She reached out to slap Allison, but before her hand could land, it was caught by another hand. Allison's eyes were already filled with anger. She suddenly let out a cold laugh and twisted Sophia's arm behind her back, causing Sophia to cry out in pain and press against the desk.

The whole scene happened so fast that everyone around was left speechless.

"Sophia, you know my temper. If someone respects me, I respect them back. But if someone tries to mess with me, I will hit back! I'm not the same Allison you could push around five years ago. Try me again, and you'll regret it!" Allison uttered coldly.

With that, she let go and shoved Sophia, making her stumble to the ground, looking up at Allison with fear in her eyes.

Allison dusted off her hands. She was never one to take crap lying down. Since she was back in Skycrest, there were some people and things she needed to face head-on. So, she'd deal with it as it came!

When the bell rang, Allison immediately laid her head down on her desk to catch some sleep. After class, she grabbed her backpack and headed out.

At the school gate, she ran into someone unexpected.

"Ms. Bennett, what a coincidence?"

A coincidence? Allison had been wondering who made that phone call. Now it seemed pretty clear-it was Alexander's assistant, James.

"Yeah, quite a coincidence. Ever heard the saying, 'Most coincidences are orchestrated by someone'?" Allison said.

James smiled awkwardly, feeling a cold sweat on his back for some reason, even though he was facing such a young girl.

The car window behind him rolled down, and Alexander's eyes met Allison's. "Ms. Bennett, can we talk for a sec?" he asked.

Allison thought for a moment and then got into the car.

From the moment she met Alexander, she knew he was a dangerous man. And the best way to deal with danger was to stay away from it.

"Mr. Carter, thanks for helping me with the school thing. I saved you before, so we're even now! Let's not bother each other in the future!" Allison said straight up.

Allison's eyes were full of sincerity, with no hidden agenda, showing she truly didn't want any ties with Alexander. This attitude, however, intrigued Alexander.

"Do you really not want any connection with me? What are you afraid of, Ms. Bennett?" Alexander asked.

It was just a phone call to the school, a small thing compared to saving his life.

He then offered, "Ms. Bennett must have heard of the Carter Group. Are you interested in joining?"

Alexander actually invited Allison to join the Carter Group, which shocked James.

It wasn't that James looked down on this young girl, but the Carter Group was full of talent. Why would they need a high school girl to join, especially one who hadn't even graduated yet?

"Just out of curiosity, what is it about me that Mr. Carter values so much that you would personally invite me to join?" Allison stared directly at Alexander.

Seeing her so boldly meet Alexander's gaze, James was even more astonished. This girl was indeed extraordinary. Who else would dare to look at Alexander like that?

"Maybe your exceptional medical skills," Alexander replied.

"Mr. Carter, you must be joking. I'm just a high school student who hasn't even graduated yet. What medical skills could I possibly have? Removing the bullet for you was just luck, and it was your good fortune that kept you alive. So that reason doesn't hold up!" Allison's words were truly without giving anything away.

But the more she acted this way, the more Alexander wanted to keep her close.

Alexander continued to persuade her, "Allison, I'm serious. As long as you agree, you can choose any department in the Carter Group! I hope you will consider it seriously!"

The Carter Group was a dominant force in Skycrest, and no company in the country could rival it, but Allison seemed indifferent to it.

James rubbed his nose. This girl was really something else!
