The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 76 Explaining the Misunderstanding

Michael just stood there, not saying a word. Veda immediately whined to him, "Michael, look at her! She actually dared to hit me."

Michael shot back, "Well, when you hit Emily, did you think no one would hit you back?"

Veda was left speechless. Michael noticed the five clear finger marks on Emily's face and felt a pang of distress. He demanded, "Veda, apologize."

But Veda just turned her head away, refusing to say anything. Michael raised his voice, "Veda, I'm telling you again, go apologize to Emily."

Emily suddenly chimed in, "No need. I can't afford any apologies from the Smith Family."

Michael knew Emily was indirectly referring to him. The hospital room was noisy early in the morning. Abigail, looking at Emily, felt heartbroken and asked, "Was it Sophia again?" Abigail didn't care if Michael heard her. Emily glanced at Michael, noticing that his expression hadn't changed. When they mentioned Sophia, he didn't refute, which was unusual.

Emily said dejectedly, "Sophia took 'Lucky' away."

Abigail was stunned. "What? Sophia took 'Lucky'?"

Abigail glanced at Michael, implying, 'Didn't you already give it to Emily? How did Sophia get it?'

Michael wanted to explain that it was a misunderstanding, but seeing Daniel there, he couldn't bring himself to say it, as if he was being jealous. However, he felt that if he didn't explain now, things would get worse. So he spoke up, "I originally wanted to give 'Lucky' to you."

Emily said nothing. Yes, it was a gift for her. It just ended up with someone else.

Abigail looked around the crowded hospital room and unceremoniously started to clear people out.

Daniel gave a few instructions, telling Emily to rest well and avoid any more accidents. Emily nodded, understanding what Daniel meant.

Michael watched Emily and Daniel exchange glances, feeling a sudden surge of frustration. Michael couldn't stand seeing Emily flirt with another man. But seeing Abigail sitting by the bed and protectively guarding Emily, he couldn't say anything. He turned and left, dragging Veda with him.

Veda screamed as she was pulled away. Once outside, Michael immediately asked Veda to stand in the stairwell as punishment.

With a stern face, Michael said, "Veda, how dare you slap Emily? You're really outrageous."

Veda immediately retorted, "Michael, why are you punishing me?"

Michael's face remained stern. "Veda, I've spoiled you too much. You came to the hospital and slapped Emily. What were you thinking? Miss Rodriguez was right. Is this what the Smith Family taught you? You deserved that slap today. If you weren't a girl, it wouldn't have been Miss Rodriguez hitting you, it would have been me. Who gave you the right to hit Emily? She's my wife. If you do something like this again, you'll be sent back to the Smith Family to kneel in the family chapel. You've been kneeling there since you were a child, so you're used to it."

Veda, scolded by Michael, lowered her head and wrung her hands, not daring to speak. Finally, she muttered, "Don't you know why I hit her? Didn't you see how she was flirting with Daniel? Even in a hospital gown, she could look so seductive. She was clearly trying to seduce Daniel. Look."

Veda took out her phone and opened the photo album, showing a picture of Daniel holding Emily as they got into a car outside the Heavenly Delight Club. From the picture, Daniel was holding Emily closely, looking intimate and harmonious. Some media outlet had even added a gossip headline: [Daniel's Mysterious Fiancée Sighted.]

Michael was furious at the sight. Was this a blatant disrespect to him? But he held back his anger. "Did you hit Emily because of this? That's ridiculous."

Veda bit her lip and confronted Michael, "She's a slut, seducing Daniel. You and Daniel are both protecting her."

Michael felt a headache coming on with anger. "Veda, you stay here and reflect on your actions. When you realize your mistake, then you can come home." With that, Michael walked away from Veda's sight. Veda stomped her feet in frustration. She remembered that Michael used to ignore Emily, no matter how they bullied her. Why was he defending her now?

When Michael returned to the hospital room, he saw Abigail still talking to Emily, both of them laughing. But as soon as he stepped in, Emily's smile disappeared. Michael sighed inwardly. She was clearly targeting him. He could see that. Abigail saw Michael come in and winked at Emily. "Emily, get some rest. I'll come see you tomorrow." Although Abigail was angry at Michael and Veda for hitting Emily, she didn't want to meddle in their marital issues. She just glared at Michael and then left the room.

With only her and Michael left in the room, Michael slowly walked over, sat in a chair, and said, "I've already scolded Veda. I'll have her come and apologize to you later. She was wrong."

Emily ignored him, showing no kindness. She didn't care for Veda's apology; she wanted an explanation. She turned and stared into Michael's eyes. "You said yesterday that the 'Lucky' incident was a misunderstanding. Now explain to me why Sophia got 'Lucky'."

Michael thought that since Emily was willing to listen to his explanation, there was still a chance to make things right. But now 'Lucky' was broken and not yet repaired. He thought for a moment and said, "It really was a misunderstanding. Andrew made a mistake and sent 'Lucky' to Sophia."

Emily looked at Michael coldly. "Michael, how convenient for you to blame Andrew! Does Andrew know?"

Seeing Emily's disbelief, Michael chuckled in frustration. "Emily, I wouldn't shift the blame to others for such a small matter." As he spoke, Michael immediately called Andrew.
