The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)

Chapter 797

Although Charles knew Tania, they rarely interacted. Occasionally, he would help her, but beyond that, there was nothing much between them.

It was only later, when problems arose between Tania and Peter, that Charles got involved. He never expected Tania to leave. It had already been three years.

Charles had sent people to look for her, but it seemed as though every trace of Tania had truly been erased. In the last couple of years, Nancy's health had worsened, and aside from Peter, Charles himself had been quietly searching for Tania. Steven's sharp eyes glimmered with thought. "If it wasn't you, then who?"

There were only a handful of people capable of helping Tania disappear like that and even fewer with the kind of resources to pull it off.

"I don't know. But it seems it wasn't anyone from the Hoffmans. Aside from his sister, who else does Peter have issues with?"

Steven's question sparked Charles' interest. It was hard for him to believe that someone as prominent as Tania could simply vanish without a trace.

Just then, the door to the room opened, and Peter stood at the entrance. His dark eyes locked onto Charles. "It really wasn't you?"

"How long have you been eavesdropping?" Charles tapped the poker cards on the table with his slender fingers. "Do you think I have a reason to do that?"

Peter's expression remained grim. "Lennon Group has been under attack recently."

"What did you say?" Charles frowned. "When did this start?"

"Before the new year," Peter replied, his tone unusually tense. He had one hand in his pocket, the other clutching a half-smoked cigarette. "He's coming back." "Who?"

"My third uncle."

Jack Lennon?

Charles did not have much memory of Jack. He vaguely remembered meeting him when they were children.

Jack was around 12 or 13 years older than them. However, he left the Lennon family many years ago and had since disappeared from Brookville, never to be seen again. "You think Tania's disappearance might be related to your third uncle?" Charles asked, his concern growing.

Peter's expression hardened as his fist tightened in his pocket. "I can't think of anyone else. Neither Ari not Jamie poses a threat to me-only him. Back then, my grandfather favored Jack as the next head of the family. But for some reason, Jack left and never returned."

Hearing this, Charles grew even more worried. "You're afraid Jack will target Tania because of you?"

"I initially thought it was you behind this," Peter admitted, his voice strained. "Even though I never said it out loud, trusted that you wouldn't hurt Tania and that as long as she was safe, it didn't matter. But if it wasn't you, then it must be him."

Peter's gaze intensified. "We need to get Tania back as soon as possible."

Charles frowned deeply, feeling the weight of the situation. "The Hoffmans are going through a turbulent time right now. Her

may not be a good thing. And even if we want to bring her back, it's not

that simple."

To be honest, Charles was not keen on having Tania return at this moment. The Hoffmans were unstable, and he had not fully prepared for the challenges ahead. Moreover, with Nancy's deteriorating health... Charles looked up, his gaze serious. "Are you absolutely sure you want Tania to come back?"
