The Fortune-Telling Heiress

Chapter 352

Chapter 352

Malcolm laughed wildly, throwing taunts at the heavens, even cursing them.

After his rant, he glanced back at Madison, expecting her to react with anger. Instead, she remained calm, her expression unwavering.

"You're not angry? I cursed the heavens and even mocked them," Malcolm asked, confused.

Most cultivators would have lashed out by now, eager to defend the honor of the heavens.

Madison's response was unexpected. She replied, "Why should I be angry? The heavens are indeed unjust. But I don't uphold the justice set by the heavens. I follow the justice in my own heart."

She gestured to the lifeless birds on the ground. "For me, taking innocent lives is wrong. Malcolm, no matter how much grievance you hold in your heart, it doesn't justify harming the innocent. What have these birds ever done to you?" With a wave of her hand, a talisman flashed. Slowly, the fallen birds began to stir, their wings fluttering. One by one, they regained life, chirping softly as they took flight.

As the last of the birds disappeared into the sky, Madison fixed her gaze on Malcolm. "You didn't go through all this trouble just to complain to me about your grievances. Why did you really call me here?"

The once lively forest now fell completely silent as if nature itself awaited Malcolm's response.

He lowered his head and let out a low chuckle. The fly whisk in his hand quivered, fueled by his rising spiritual energy.

"Ms. Locke, I once thought you'd die," Malcolm said.

"I divined your tribulation and planned to steal your fortune after your death. But unfortunately..." He raised his head, his eyes gleaming with malice. "You survived." Madison's expression darkened. "You gave Rebecca that talisman to suppress my spiritual energy, to push me toward death."

"Indeed. Such a pity it didn't work out." Malcolm shook his head, his voice filled with regret. "I didn't want to dirty my hands by fighting you myself. I couldn't bear to."

His eyes gleamed with malice as he suddenly lunged.

Before Madison could react, the fly whisk was already at her face, its countless thin threads like needles aimed to pierce her. But the attack halted just an inch away. A purple talisman floated in front of Madison, expanding into an invisible shield.

The quiet forest echoed with the sounds of their battle. Malcolm's strikes were vicious and deadly, each one aimed to kill. Yet Madison moved with effortless grace, her every movement light yet decisive. She neutralized his attacks with minimal effort.

As the fight dragged on, Malcolm's confident expression faltered. His breathing grew labored, and beads of sweat formed on his brow.

After his fly whisk was deflected once again, he staggered back, panting heavily.

"Why?" he rasped, glaring at Madison.

Madison stood with one hand behind her back, her expression calm. "Your spiritual energy is stolen, drawn from the life force of other beings. Mine is not." She didn't need shortcuts. Her spiritual energy came from her own cultivation, amplified by the conversion of wishes into power.

Malcolm had taken a shortcut, and in doing so, he had also lost control over his spiritual energy.

Madison said calmly, "Malcolm, you had potential. But you chose the wrong path."

With a flick of her wrist, Madison summoned a dozen talismans into the air. They crackled with purple energy, bolts of lightning flickering between them. Malcolm looked up at the talismans and let out a bitter laugh. "You really do take me seriously, using this many purple talismans against me."

Purple talismans were considered high-level talismans.

Malcolm glanced at the talismans and smirked, saying, "These weren't passed down to you. You made them yourself, didn't you?"

Madison said nothing, only increasing the flow of spiritual energy. The talismans spun faster, the purple lightning intensifying. One bolt struck Malcolm, then

another and another.

At first, he tried to resist, but the barrage grew overwhelming. His grip on the fly whisk loosened, and it fell to the ground. The spiritual energy surrounding him faded rapidly.
