The Second Act Revenge (Oneida and Jackson)

Chapter The Second Act 170

Chapter 170

Oneida approached the stone table and casually glanced at the gems on it.

Most were small gems, and there were only a few big gems.

The largest gem was placed in the middle of the table, shining brightly.

It was the largest and also the only one.

In other words, there was only one gem of such a big size here.

The rest of the gems were smaller than it.

The situation seemed like a deliberate attempt to create conflict among the students.

Most students came in a team, with at least three people in a small group.

Oneida's team had the smallest number of people..

The team found the gems together, yet only one big gem was available.

Who should take the biggest gem and whether or not the rest of the team would be willing to take only one small gem were still questionable.

After all, the size of the gem determined the score of the test.

Everyone wanted a high score, but the number of gems representing the high score was way too limited.

It was simply a test of human nature.

The ultimate test of Starr Training Camp was indeed interesting.

Not only did the students have to challenge Misty Forest with extreme difficulty, but they also needed to face a test of trust and humanity if they successfully found the gems.

Would the teammates who provided mutual support and worked together turn against each other in the end because of the big gem?

"We should be the first team here..." Ruby couldn't help guessing as she looked at the gem on the table. "Look, these gems seem untouched."

Oneida thought the same, too.

The three of them were the first team to arrive at the scene.

Anyway, it would be better to take the gems away as soon as possible.

The situation would become more complicated with more people around.

"But there is only one largest gem..." Matthias suddenly said in a deep tone.

Oneida knew Matthias, who had a high intelligence, would have thought of the "humanity test" just like her.

"It seems so. Who should take the biggest gem, then?" Realization dawned on Ruby when she heard Matthias's words.

"Oneida, you should take this biggest gem!" Ruby leaned her face closer to Oneida and smiled sincerely.

"It's good enough for me to have a gem. You are the one who played a big part in this test." As she spoke, she glanced at Matthias. "Matthias, do you have any objections?" Matthias naturally had no objection.

Finding the cave and the gems inside was indeed Oneida's credit.

Besides, he would never fight with Oneida.

"Just do as you said," Matthias said faintly, pursing his thin lips.

Since the rest had said so, Oneida did not hesitate and directly reached out to pick up the biggest gem.

Matthias also picked one.

As for Ruby, her gem was picked by Oneida.

After taking their gems, the trio did not leave immediately.

Instead, they chose to rest in the cave for a while.

After all, Oneida had been carrying Ruby for a long time and was exhausted.

She still had to carry her out later and naturally needed a rest.

Oneida put Ruby down and let her sit on a rock.

Then, she randomly found herself a place to sit down.

Just when she took out the water and dry ration from her backpack and prepared to replenish some energy, a loud noise rang out.

Oneida and Ruby immediately raised their heads and looked in the direction of the voice.

It turned out that Matthias accidentally made a boulder fall to the ground.

"Did you get hurt?" Oneida frowned slightly at the sight. Then, she put down the things in her hand and walked up to Matthias to check on him. However, Matthias stared straight ahead with a dazed yet complicated look.

"What's wrong?" Oneida asked subconsciously, but when she saw the scene before her, she was slightly stunned like Matthias.

Following the fall of the boulder, the "things" behind the stone were exposed.

It was not a mountain wall but a cliff.

No one would have thought a bottomless cliff was behind an ordinary boulder.

Perhaps even the people of Starr Training Camp did not know the existence of the cliff.

Oneida looked straight down. She couldn't see the bottom of the cliff, and it was pitch black.

There was no way she could figure out how high the cliff was.

However, Oneida managed to hear the sound of water flowing at the bottom of the cliff.

It was probably a deep pool at the bottom of the cliff.

"Ah, so this is why I hear the sound of water flowing constantly. It actually comes from here. No wonder..." Oneida thought.

Back when she stepped into the cave, she wondered why she did not see the water source.

She was sure that she had heard the sound of the water flowing in the cave.

It turned out the water source was hidden under the cliff.

Oneida turned to Matthias and reminded in a faint voice, "We'd better stay away from here."

As soon as her words fell, a palm suddenly pressed on Oneida's back.

It was so forceful that Oneida was pushed toward the cliff mercilessly.

Apparently, Matthias received a strong push as well. He lost his balance and leaned forward." There was no time for them to react.

Oneida instantly lost her balance and fell forward uncontrollably.

The deep cliff in front of her looked like a giant black hole that was trying to suck Oneida into it.

In a flash, Oneida quickly turned around and grabbed the bulging stone on the cliff's edge with her slender fingers.

She did not fall off the cliff in the end.

She was hanging in the air, relying only on the strength of her fingers.

Meanwhile, Matthias was pushed down the cliff like Oneida.

Just like Oneida, he grabbed the cliff's edge with his hand, his only hope.

A series of light footsteps then sounded from above them.

Ruby's cold and gloomy face came into their sight.

The adorable face, which was always smiling, was cold at that moment.

Everything was clear now.

The one who just pushed them down was Ruby, who had injured her leg and looked utterly harmless.

"You didn't injure your leg?" Matthias was the first to ask upon seeing that.

He widened his eyes slightly. A hint of surprise flashed across his eyes.

Ruby chuckled upon hearing that. As she looked at the two people hanging on the cliff, there was an insidious look under her eyes. "Yeah, my leg is fine." Matthias tightly clenched his fingers.

He narrowed his eyes at Ruby with a look of maliciousness he had never had before.

Oneida still remained silent, though.

The moment she saw Ruby, she immediately understood everything.

All the details were connected, and all the doubts were solved.

"What else do you guys want to say?" Ruby slightly curled the corner of her lips and looked at them with a sneer.

Oneida looked at her with a calm expression. She was neither flustered nor afraid.

It was as if the person hanging on the cliff, a thin line away from death, was not her.

"You were the one who broke my bow and hurt my horse, weren't you?" Oneida questioned Ruby coldly.
