Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 725

Chapter 725

"What are you doing? Let me down." Hera noticed Bernard, who was easily jealous, was getting envious again. She smacked his chest and wanted to be put down.

However, Bernard didn't want to let go. He forcibly carried her to his car in the parking lot. That wasn't enough for him, though. He even started kissing her passionately.

Hera saw Bernard closing the partition between the driver's seat and the back seat. She was worried that he would do the unspeakable with her right here and now due to extreme jealousy. So, she pushed him away and said, "That's enough. Cut it out."

"Tell me you love me." Bernard pressed against Hera's forehead. It looked like he wasn't going to let her go if she didn't comply.

Hera was at a loss for words. There was nothing she could do but to go along with him. "I love you-mmph!" She had just finished saying it when Bernard kissed her passionately again. What a liar.

After a long time, Bernard reluctantly let Hera go. "This is your reward. I love you too." Hera was stumped again.

Douglas turned the car around. It just so happened that Harvey exited the graveyard as well. He was standing by the side of the road, waiting for a cab.

"Give him a ride." Hera knocked on the partition, making Douglas stop the car.

After all, Harvey was her patient, and the graveyard was in a remote location. On top of that, it wasn't exactly a popular time for people to be visiting the deceased. So, there weren't any cars around.

Lastly, it was raining outside, and Harvey had just recovered from a serious condition. It'd be hard for him to go back.

Bernard heard what Hera said, and his eyes were brimming with displeasure. He wanted to reject the idea, but he recalled Sage's reminders and endured it.

"I can give him a ride, but you have to make it clear to him that you're just doing it because you pity him. When we drop him off, he's going to have to pay us a fare," Bernard said.

Hera grumbled, "Tsk. Why are you taking it so seriously with a patient?"

Bernard retorted, "Well, I'm a patient too. I have an addiction, and it's you." Hera was at a loss for words. He was just too easily jealous.

Douglas pulled the car over by Harvey. He lowered the car window and signaled for him to get in. Harvey didn't hesitate. He opened the passenger door and stepped into the car.

Bernard had lowered the partition by now. Harvey buckled in and turned around. He said to Hera with a smile, "I appreciate it, Hera."

"Don't thank me. Bernard said he hadn't done his good deed of the day, and he wanted to give you a ride," Hera said.

Bernard didn't know what to say. Why was she suddenly bringing up good deeds?

Harvey was equally dumbfounded as well.

They parted ways when they arrived at Silverleaf Hospital. It just so happened that Johnson came over with the test results when Hera and Bernard went back to the ward.

"Hey, Bernard and Hera. The results are out, and there aren't any anomalies."

Hera took over the X-ray and took a gander at it. Everything was normal, and there weren't any issues with it. She might not have let it show, but her heart sank to her stomach.

Bernard looked at the rest of the results and let out a sigh of relief. "If that's the case, then why can't she feel anything?"

Johnson unwrapped Hera's bandage and checked her wounds. "Her wounds are recovering very well right now. A doctor can treat others, but he can't treat himself.

"It's possible that she was too nervous. That in turn might have laden her with psychological effects, causing intense nervousness. She needs to relax. She'll recover fully once the scar heals."

The wounds on Hera's left hand had already formed a scar. It looked hideous and off- putting, but Bernard didn't think so at all. He took the medicine from Johnson and applied it to her wounds gently.

"How does it feel?" Bernard asked.

"Much better." Hera noticed how serious he was applying the medicine and didn't have the heart to tell him that she still couldn't feel anything in the fingers of her left hand.

This was the first time Hera was experiencing something like this. All of a sudden, she had an ominous hunch. Her left hand was most likely ruined.
