Chapter 727
Chapter 727
Hera said, "Alright, thanks."
"I wish you a speedy recovery, Hera." Christopher was about to give her the bouquet when Bernard came out of the ward. He was done packing up her stuff.
Christopher sensed Bernard's sharp gaze, and he withdrew his hand. He wanted to give Hera the bouquet, but he didn't dare to do it anymore. She looked at him and asked casually, "Didn't you go overseas for your studies?"
Christopher saw that she was expressing concern about his situation, and that excited him." I didn't. I decided to stay in Jadonia in the end, and I'm studying at Quantford University as well.
"I'm taking mathematics. We can solve equations together when you're all better." It would be a joy to solve some mathematical equations together with the woman he adored.
Hera was slightly surprised. Andrew valued Christopher quite a lot. It was baffling that he agreed to let Christopher stay in the country for his studies.
Hera didn't poke her nose into Christopher's family matter. She responded calmly, "I'll talk to you another time." Then, she turned and left. If she stayed there any longer, Bernard would get jealous again.
Hera went back to the courtyard house.
Catherine was waiting for Wayne to lock the door as she carried a thermos that contained a medicinal meal. They were going to swing by the hospital and visit Hera.
Bernard's car pulled over slowly at this time. Catherine noticed Hera coming out and asked in a surprised tone, "What are you doing home, Herie?"
"I got discharged earlier than planned," Hera explained.
Catherine held Hera's right hand and checked her pulse. She let out a sigh of relief once she was sure there was nothing too unusual about Hera.
"Why didn't you tell me about it? I could've gone over earlier to pick you up," Catherine playfully complained.
"I wanted to give you a surprise." Hera held Catherine by the shoulder intimately with one hand. She rested her head on Catherine's shoulder. "I've missed you so much."
It had been a long time since Hera clung to someone like this, and it looked very out of the ordinary. It made Catherine somewhat worried. "What came over you? Did something happen? Are you feeling unwell?"
Hera shook her head. "Nothing. I just missed you very much. That's all."
Throughout all these years, Catherine suffered a lot while she raised Hera. She couldn't tell Catherine that she had met Lucius and that he forbade her from digging for the truth. He was even acting as if Daphne's death didn't mean anything to him.
Catherine looked at Bernard and noticed there wasn't anything unusual about him. She thought maybe Hera felt terrible because of her condition.
"Don't we see each other every day?" Catherine rubbed Hera's back and comforted her.
Hera responded, "We do, but I still miss you."
"Silly girl. Let's go inside and take a seat," Catherine smiled as she said. Wayne opened the door, and everyone headed inside. The north wing had been fixed by the men Bernard hired. Hera invited Catherine to stay for dinner.
Douglas went to buy some ingredients so that Catherine could make Hera several of her favorite foods. After dinner, Wayne washed the dishes. Bernard suddenly asked, "Linda's sentencing hearing is in two days. Do you want to see her tomorrow?"
Catherine heard what he said and looked at Hera, feeling somewhat worried. In fact, she wanted to know more about Daphne, but she was afraid Hera would take it too seriously.
Hera was a little surprised that Bernard would pose this question of his own accord. After all, he had stopped her from digging further. Now that he asked her this question, it seemed a little ironic for some reason.
"That won't be necessary," Hera rejected. "I'll see her in court."
Two days later, Linda's sentencing hearing was held at Jedburgh Courthouse. The place was overrun by reporters and people who wanted to see the drama unfold.
Under normal circumstances, a family with a background such as the Atkinses could've refused to expose the trial to the public eye. However, none of the Atkins family members stopped it.
