Chapter 210
Alex shook Mandy off and looked away, bending down to help Patricia up.
Just as he bent down, Patricia pounced into his arms and began sobbing. On the other hand, Mandy had been thrown to the side by Alex. Her back rammed into the corner of a sink, which made her face pale further. Tiffany supported her. "Are you alright?"
Mandy did not reply. She looked at the couple hugging each other on the ground, feeling as though her soul had left her body.
Half an hour later, they were all in the police station.
Mandy walked out after finishing her testimony. At the same time, Patricia and Alex walked out together from the opposite door. Just like that, they ran into each other.
With a wide grin on her face, Mandy walked toward them. The terrified Patricia ducked behind Alex, her face noticeably pale.
Alex protected her behind him and stared Mandy down coldly, yelling, "That's enough, Ms. Stewart!"
"Enough?" Mandy was fuming. "This is the first time I've been framed. I won't rest until I make you regret this, Alex!"
"What do you want from me?" Alex glared at her. He no longer looked at her emotionlessly. Hatred filled his eyes.
Seeing that, Mandy was filled with hurt. The worse she felt, the sharper her words became. "I'll give you three days to get out of Chilburg. I won't let the two of you survive here!" Frowning, Alex said nothing.
Right then, frantic footsteps sounded.
"Mandy!" Charles hurried over. Pushing Alex aside, the first he did was hug Mandy.
Seeing that she was alright, Charles glared at Alex and questioned, "What's wrong with you? Have you lost your mind?"
Looking down, Alex said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Stewart."
He was apologizing in hopes that Charles wouldn't punish them for this. After all, Alex was Vincent's employee, and Charles wasn't a cruel person either. If he apologized, it might minimize the severity of this situation.
However, Patricia wasn't going to let it slide. "Alex, this isn't our fault. Why are we apologizing?"
Turning back, she made eye contact with Charles.
At this moment, Patricia's
expression changed. Biting her lip, she walked out from behind Alex and said, "Mr. Stewart, even if your
family is wealthy, youn'take
advantage of that to do as you wish, right?
"We live under the rule of law. Ms. Stewart was the one who committed the crime. Are you going to disregard the truth and force us to apologize?"
She behaved like a victim in front of Mandy. However, she was strong and powerful in front of Charles. She made direct eye contact with Charles as she spoke, as though all her nervousness had dissipated.
Tiffany felt that something was off. Charles was more intimidating than Mandy, so he should've been more terrifying than her. Why wasn't Patricia scared of Charles but terrified of Mandy?
Chuckling, Charles walked forward and leaned down in front of Patricia. "It looks like you're accustomed to poverty. Don't you know that money can do anything?"
Patricia blinked, the emotions churning in her eyes shifting as she said, "I only know that a crime is a crime regardless of who does it."
Charles snorted in response.
Patrica was about to say something more, but Alex dragged her behind him to put some distance between her and Charles.
"Mr. Stewart, this is my problem. You can punish me however you wish," Alex said. After a pause, he continued, "Ms. Stewart instructed us to leave Chilburg in three days. If that's your wish as well, we'll pack our bags now."
Glaring at him, Charles asked in a tone that carried disappointment, "Have you been intoxicated by the fumes of stupidity?"
He then turned to ask Mandy. "Mandy, have you made up your mind? Would you like them to leave Chilburg?"
