When Love Comes Late

Chapter 2253

Noticing the panic on her face, Matthew smiled slightly as he carried her back to the room.

Even after being set down by the bed, Stella remained in a daze, her mind racing to catch up with what had just happened.

Matthew resumed his previous cold demeanor and said, “Put on your shoes, freshen up, and have breakfast.

I’ll take you to your workplace afterward.”

This series of instructions left Stella feeling even more confused, unsure of what to make of his sudden change in tone.

She looked up at Matthew, finding his behavior increasingly strange and hard to read.

He had always avoided her, so why this sudden change? The inconsistency only deepened her confusion.

A daring thought suddenly crossed Stella’s mind.

Could it be that he had regained his memory? The thought filled her with a mix of hope and anxiety.

Her eyes brightened at the thought, and she blurted out, “Have you remembered everything?”

Matthew’s eyes dimmed as he whispered, “No.”

Stella once more sank into a deep emotional trough, the spark in her eyes slowly fading.

Matthew lowered his voice further, adding, “My grandparents are observing.

I don’t want them to be anxious about us.”

Upon hearing this, Stella glanced toward the door and saw two figures hiding outside.

She nodded, her expression melancholic, and replied, “Understood.”

Seeing her demeanor, Matthew felt a surge of frustration.

He looked away and urged, “Let’s move quickly; I have an early meeting.”

Stella remained silent, lost in thought for a few moments.

She decided it was important to clarify things with Matthew and said quietly, “There’s mo need to be concerned.

Last night, when you suddenly collapsed, I had to inform them about your memory loss.”

Matthew’s expression remained impassive, his gaze heavy as he Looked at Stella.

Stella continued, “Your grandparents will comprehend your actions.

There’s no need for us to feign affection in their presence.”

Matthew, feeling inexplicably angered, asked, “What do you mean by ‘feign affection’?”

“Isn’t that what you’re doing?” Stella retorted.

“You carried me into the room, asked me to put on my shoes, and acted as if everything was fine, all for your grandparents’ benefit.

They know about your amnesia and will understand your behavior.

You don’t have to force yourself into actions you dislike.”

Her last words were nearly a shout.

She felt unprecedentedly aggrieved.

Despite Lindsay’s interference and Matthew’s repeated requests for a divorce, Stella had always believed he was merely unwell.

She thought everything would be fine once he recovered his memories.

Now, Matthew was pretending to be in love with her in front of his grandparents.
