When Love Comes Late

Chapter 2257

Matthew’s thoughts wavered.

On one hand, he had no emotional ties to Stella from his memories, yet he felt a compelling need to be close to her.

On the other hand, he felt a strong sense of guilt toward Lindsay.

If Lindsay’s recovery didn’t progress well, then… Suddenly, his phone rang, breaking his reverie.

It was Lindsay calling again.

Suppressing his irritation, Matthew answered curtly, “What’s up?”

Lindsay, with evident concern, asked, “When you left yesterday, you mentioned your grandma wasn’t feeling well.

How is she now? Is she better? I want to visit her.”

In fact, Lindsay called because she was panicking.

Matthew had not returned to the hospital all night, leaving Lindsay anxious that he might have spent excessive time with Stella.

Matthew responded in a low, steady voice, “It’s merely a chronic condition, nothing critical.

Focus on taking care of yourself; there’s no need for you to visit.”

“But…” Lindsay began to protest.

Matthew cut her off, his impatience evident.

“I have matters to attend to.

Please, take care of yourself.”

He ended the call abruptly.

In the hospital, Lindsay’s expression darkened upon hearing the call disconnect.

Had Matthew simply visited Lucia, he wouldn’t have been so brusque and impatient with her.

Lindsay’s frustration mounted as she clenched her fists, growing more certain that Matthew had spent the night with Stella.

Nearby, Robin asked with impatience, “Do you still believe you can marry Matthew? I don’t have time to waste.”

Already irked, Lindsay retorted, “Stop being so aggravating! Solutions don’t materialize out of thin air!”

After speaking, she suddenly had a bright idea.

Noticing the change in Lindsay’s demeanor, Robin smirked and inquired, “What’s wrong? You have a plan?”

Lindsay responded with a confident smile, “If I recall correctly, Stella’s product launch is just a few days away…”

She reasoned that if Stella were preoccupied with work, she wouldn’t have the opportunity to monopolize Matthew’s attention.

This would leave Lindsay more time to be with him.

With this thought, Lindsay’s smile widened.

After leaving the Clark family house, Stella headed directly to the hospital.

Bella went in for treatment, while Stella settled onto a bench in the corridor, waiting anxiously.

Cordell sat down beside her and broke the silence.

“Don’t worry; the doctor said your mom is responding well to the treatment,” he reassured her.
