Chapter AFTER I AMAZED 149

Chapter 149

I looked at him, my heart swelling with both relief and affection.

Without another word, I slipped my hand into his, squeezing gently.

I didn't know how to ease his pain, so I did the only thing that came naturally-I reached for his hand.

My fingers intertwined with his, as if that simple gesture could somehow lessen the weight of his suffering.

His grip was firm yet gentle, and I felt a wave of guilt wash over me.

et you into this mess," I whispered, my voice barely audible.

The remorse in my tone was unmistakable.

Leo squeezed my hand, his eyes locking with mine.

"Don't say that. It's not clear if they were after you or me. Given my background, I've got plenty of enemies. Maybe they just decided to kill two birds with one stone."

I frowned. "But how did you even find me?"

He exhaled slowly, rubbing his thumb against my skin.

"After you left, I had this... restless feeling. I couldn't shake it, so I booked the next flight and followed you."

I could feel my heart thudding in my chest. "You... followed me?"

Leo nodded, his expression serious.

"Something hasn't felt right for days now. I've had this sense that someone's been tailing me. It's possible the assassin followed me here, not you."

I sighed deeply.

"Growing up in a family like yours-it looks so glamorous from the outside, but it's nothing but endless crises. It must be exhausting."

His eyes darkened, a mixture of pain and frustration swirling in them.

"I'm sorry for dragging you into this. If I were thinking logically, I'd let you go, let you live in peace."

Before I could respond, he gently pulled me into his arms, holding me close.

I would have pushed him away, but the thought of his injury made me pause, freezing in his embrace.

His voice dropped to a husky whisper, soft against my hair.

"But I can't let you go. I'm selfish, I know... Do you hate me for it?"

His words hit me hard.

I wasn't sure what I felt hate wasn't the right word. Exhaustion, maybe.

Between Andrew's constant pressure, Aria and Sorcia's venomous schemes, and Leo's unpredictable mood swings, I was simply... tired.

I pulled away from him gently, avoiding his question

"Yonghould stop talking. Your wound will hurt more if you don't rest"

Leo's eyes clouded, the spark fading as he murmured, "Inun."

He isbned back, closing his eyes, but the sight furrow in his brow gave away the discomfort he was feeling

Despite the tough exterior, the pain was underdable.

Of course, it hurts. Flesh and blood. How could it not?

I stared at his face-so handsome, yet so full of burdens-and let out a long si

We finally reached the hospital.

As soon as we arrived, Leo was whisked into the emergency room.

I stood outside, nerves rattling, pacing back and forth while the minutes dragged on.

After what felt like an eternity, the doctor emerged.

rtunately, no bones were broken," the doctor informed me.

"The bullet grazed his arm, causing a deep cut, but nothing more serious. He'll need stitches and rest."

A wave of relief flooded through me. "Thank you, Doctor."

Half an hour later, Leo was stitched up and wheeled into a ward to rest.

I followed closely, watching as a nurse hooked him up to an IV drip, the clear liquid dripping steadily into his veins.

I tried to lighten the mood. "You've had some pretty bad luck lately, getting hurt over and over again."

A lazy, almost playful smile tugged at the corners of his lips.

"This is nothing new for me. My life's always been like this-danger is normal. But you," he said, his voice softening, "you're my good luck charm. Whet you're around, I'm fine. When you leave, things fall apart." I raised an eyebrow. "We were together today, weren't we? You still got shot."

He gave me a wry smile. "That's because you haven't truly forgiven me yet. You haven't come back to me for real."

His words hung in the air, but I said nothing.

Leo had always been a man of few words, cold and distant for most of his life.

Yet, ever since he began chasing after me, he had changed.

His walls had crumbled, his emotions more raw and open than ever.

Suddenly, I saw Leo's face tense, as if he was receiving a mind link.

His features shifted from calm to fierce in a matter of moments.

His eyes blazed with barely-contained fury as he growled, "Bring them here, Now!"

I could hear the anger in his voice, so palpable it felt like a storm brewing in the room. "Tell them to get their asses over here immediately!"
