Chapter Rejected Luna 11
Chapter 11 Chapter

I couldn't let it go. The hatred that burned inside me was too strong, too deep.
I turned my gaze out the window, watching the darkened scenery blur past as Branwen drove.
The familiar ache of my loss tightened in my chest, "Yes," I said quietly, but with fierce determination. "I won't end this easily. Not now that I've started
it."
When we arrived home, I was greeted by the sleepy faces of my daughters, Joanne and Joey.
Despite the late hour, they were still awake, their small bodies slumped with exhaustion but their eyes bright with excitement. Branwen glanced at
em, his face softening slightly. "They wouldn't go to bed until they saw you," he said with a helpless sigh.
Joanne, her eyes wide with admiration, looked me up and down. "Mummy, you look so pretty in your dress!" she said, her voice full of awe.
Before I could respond, Joey chimed in with a grin. "When is Mummy not pretty? Even when she's not wearing a dress, Mummy's the prettiest!"
Their words warmed me, momentarily easing the tension that had been building inside me all night.
I knelt down and hugged them both, feeling their tiny arms wrap around me in a comforting embrace. "Thank you, my loves," I whispered, kissing the tops of their heads.
I took them back to their room, tucking them into bed and watching as their eyes fluttered shut, their sweet faces finally relaxing into sleep.
For a moment, I let myself feel the peace that came from being with them-the love and warmth that softened the sharp edges of my heart. But it didn't last. Even as I watched them sleep, the hatred for Silas and Lena stirred within me once again. For the next week, I stayed away from Silas. I knew he'd be searching for me, desperate for any scrap of information about where I'd gone.
Mr. Nash had mentioned that Silas was asking around about me, trying to get my address. The thought of him hunting for me amused me. I had let him stew in his confusion long enough.
When I finally decided to make my next move, I took my time getting ready. I showered, then carefully chose a dress that hugged my body in all the right places.
I slipped on a pair of heels and glanced at myself in the mirror. It was time to remind Silas just how captivating I could be.
Shas had been busy with both his pack and the company he ran. I knew the route he took to get to his office, and I planned to intercept him there.
I walked to the street where I knew his car would pass, then crouched down, pretending to adjust my shoe. Sure enough, it didn't take long for his
sleek black car to come into view.
As he approached, I timed it perfectly. I jogged out in front of his car, my heart racing as I pretended not to see him coming. His tires screeched as he slammed on the brakes, and I let out a gasp as I fell to the ground, clutching my ankle. The door to Silas's car flew open, and he rushed toward me, his face a mixture of anger and concern.
"What the hell were you thinking?" he shouted, but his tone shifted as soon as he recognized me. "Lorelei?"
I looked up at him, my expression soft and apologetic. "I'm sorry," I said, wincing as I touched my ankle. "I wasn't paying attention. It's my fault."
Silas's anger melted away, replaced by relief and joy. "Are you hurt?" he asked, his hands already reaching out to help me up.
His touch was gentle, and I could see the worry etched into his features. "You're not seriously hurt, are you?"
1 shook my head, biting my lip as I pretended to test my weight on my foot. "Just a little sprain," I said. "It's nothing serious."
Silas's face softened, his eyes filled with concern. "I'm just glad you're okay," he murmured, his voice low. "If something had happened to you, I don't
know what I'd do."
His words hung in the air between us, and for a moment, I let the tension stretch, watching as he tried to piece together his feelings. I had him now Right where I wanted him. 12:28

"No, it was my fault," I said, shaking my head slightly. "I should've been paying more attention."
Silas smiled, a flicker of something tender crossing his face. "No, it was my carelessness. Luckily, nothing happened to you, or I wouldn't have forgiven myself,"
I held his gaze for a moment longer, knowing that each interaction was drawing him closer into my web. This was just the beginning, and I was far from finished.
I winced as I shifted, the pain from my ankle flaring up again. Silas immediately noticed, his concern evident. He helped me onto a nearby bench, his touch both gentle and strong. Without a word, he shrugged off his jacket and set it beside me, kneeling down to inspect my injury.
"How is it? Do you feel better?" His voice was calm, but there was an underlying edge of worry. I could tell that he genuinely cared about my well-being, and for a moment, I almost forgot why I was really here.
qked down at my ankle, biting back the pain. "It still hurts a bit," I admitted. "Could you get me some medicine to put on it?" I said that on purpose, attempting to stump Silas with the excuse of getting the medicine. Without hesitation, Silas stood up. "Wait here, I'll be back in a moment," he said, and he was gone before I could respond.
As I sat there, alone with my thoughts, I felt an impulse rise within me. A plan I'd been toying with for a while suddenly felt like it was time to execute.
