Chapter Rejected Luna 5
Chapter 5
Silas froze, clutching his phone, his hand trembling. "What.... what did you just say? They... they're gone?" His voice wavered, disbelief etched into every syllable. "Yes, Alpha."
Silas's eyes widened, his face drained of color as he sucked in a sharp breath and erupted. "Why didn't you tell me sooner? If I blocked you, why didn't you try another number, you idiot! You're fired!" He cut the call, left standing In shock, unable to process the reality. Slowly, his eyes drifted to me, panic replacing the usual cold indifference.
owena, why didn't you tell me? I'm their father! How could you hide this from me?"
A faint, twisted satisfaction filled me. Seeing him haunted by regret and despair was far more satisfying than his usual coldness. He looked utterly shattered.
For once, it wasn't just me suffering alone in this marriage. He would pay the price for our children's deaths too.
After a long silence, he finally looked up, a forced calmness in his voice. "Let's leave the past behind. None of that matters now. I'll get you moved to a better room, find you the best doctors."
For the first time in five years, he sounded like he cared, but I closed my eyes, unwilling to look at him.
"I don't need your fake concern," I murmured, my voice icy. "Spare me the pretense. I only have one request-let's divorce. Sever our mate bond, and you can be with someone like Lena as openly as you want."
To my surprise, this time he didn't even defend Lena. Instead, he stammered, "No. I... I won't agree to it, Rowena. I'll never agree to a divorce!"
As the words left his mouth, Lena entered, her presence a sickly sweet invasion of the room. She approached with delicate steps, her voice sugary. "Silas, this isn't your fault. You didn't even know Rowena was pregnant. If she had just told you, none of this would have happened. You're so kind, of course you'd have understood..."
Watching her syrupy act, I let out a bitter laugh. "Lena, give it a rest. You've kept up this charade for five years; I'm tired of it. I'm stepping aside, but too bad for you-your beloved refuses to let me go. Why don't you talk to him about it? You've waited long enough; I almost pity you."
Lena's smile faded, and Silas, visibly straining to control his anger, snapped, "Rowena, could you stop this madness? If it weren't for your tantrums, we wouldn't be in this mess!"
Once, he would have raged at me without hesitation. But now, he was struggling to keep his patience, as if he feared something would break if he pressed me too hard.
My heart, already shattered, was only filled with contempt at the sight of these two.
Silas cleared his throat. "I've been away from the pack for too long. I have matters to attend to. Lena will stay here with you for now."
As he left, Lena flashed him a sweet smile. "Be careful, Silas. Rowena and I will be here waiting."
As soon as he was gone, I turned to Lena, observing her fake smile. "Aren't you tired of pretending?"
Lena glanced at me, her expression smug and satisfied. Ignoring the pain searing through my body, I dragged myself out of bed, ripping out the IV in
shocked. one swift motion. She gaped at me,
"Rowena, what are you doing?" she asked, her voice edged with worry.
I didn't answer, only turned and left, my legs carrying me to Silas's office with sheer determination. I pushed open his door, finding him already engrossed in trivial pack affairs, as if he hadn't just learned of our daughters' deaths. He looked up, annoyed. "Rowena, how long will you keep this up? You know we can't sever our mate bond without my consent," he scoffed.
I let out a bitter laugh, meeting his eyes. As an Alpha, he did indeed have the final say, preventing me from using conventional means to sever our
bond. But I had other methods.

"Silas, do you really think I'm that powerless?"
Clasping my hands together, I turned toward the moon, eyes closed, and began chanting the ancient words of a spell. Realization dawned on his face, and for once, he dropped his mask of calm.
"Rowena, are you trying to force the bond to break? You know it'll cost you your life!"
He lunged forward to stop me, but it was too late. A searing golden light split the air, cutting through both of us, bringing with it a pain so raw and unending I felt as though I were being torn apart. And then, something within me snapped, and the bond between us unraveled. I knew, with a finality that filled me with both relief and sorrow, that we were finally free of each other. But the price... I felt it draining me, my life slipping away like sand through my fingers.
Silas collapsed, groaning in agony, but I was too weak to lift even a finger. The last shreds of my strength slipped away.
Daughters, I'm coming to you.
Just as I closed my eyes, a shadow loomed over me, through me. Then, everything went black.
and strong arms scooped me up. I felt myself pressed against a solid chest, warmth seeping
