CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1525

Jamie bit her lip tightly, her face pale as paper from blood loss. A mocking smile played on her lips. "Don't worry, Ben. I know my place. How could someone like me possibly hurt someone like you?" Ben felt a heavy weight settle in his chest, as if a boulder had lodged itself there. It was neither something he could expel nor swallow.

His dark, piercing eyes glinted with cold, unrelenting anger. "Jamie, you never fail to impress me," he said, his voice dripping with icy sarcasm.

Mrs. Lucas, watching their verbal sparring with satisfaction, chimed in, her tone sharp. "This woman would throw you away for the smallest gain. Why waste your energy on her?"

"Enough," Ben snapped, his voice even and calm, though his gaze burned with quiet fury. It was as if the exchange hadn't phased him at all.

"No need to give her any more money. She's not worth it." His cold, piercing stare lingered on Jamie, making her breath hitch.

Mrs. Lucas couldn't contain her glee. "Good. Now that you've seen her true colors, it's time to move on. There are plenty of respectable women out there waiting for you."

"Let's discuss this elsewhere." Ben's tone was cold as he turned and strode out, leaving Jamie behind.

Jamie watched them disappear down the hallway, her body trembling as the last shred of her resolve crumbled. Slumping over the edge of the hospital bed, she clutched at her aching wounds. The pain from her injuries was relentless, each small movement feeling like needles pricking her skin.

But she couldn't rest. Not when Charlie was still in Winnie's hands. With great effort, Jamie dragged herself to her feet, determined to leave the hospital and call Winnie again.

All the blame lay with her, and she would bear it alone. None of this should touch Charlie.

She had barely made it out of the hospital room when a firm, warm hand steadied her.

"Careful," a clear and gentle voice murmured by her ear.

"Thank you," Jamie replied softly without looking up, brushing the hand aside as she tried to move forward.

But the man caught her arm. "Jamie?"

The tone carried surprise, joy, and the excitement of seeing someone after years apart.

She slowly lifted her pale face.

Standing before her was a sharp,

handsome man with defined features. He had strong brows, bright eyes, and perfectly styled hair. The slightly loose doctor's coat draped over him only added to his confident and upright demeanor.

He looked familiar, but Jamie couldn't immediately place him. She hesitated before speaking. "You are...?"

The man pointed to the name badge on his chest and smiled. “Jay Lawson. Does that ring a bell?"

Her mind suddenly flashed back to

several years ago. Jay had been a campus star during her university days. He was a brilliant and charismatic senior in the medical department. He had been the talk of the school for his good looks and intellect.

They had met at a campus event, even shared a dance. Back then, she had assumed he was a quiet, bookish type, only to discover he was also charming and witty.

A faint smile tugged at Jamie's lips as she nodded. "I remember now."

Jay chuckled and teased lightly. "Guess I wasn't impressive enough, huh? Otherwise, how could you have forgotten me?"

Jamie, her thoughts elsewhere,

didn't have the patience for small

talk. She gave him a polite but dismissive response. "Don't say that, Dr. Lawson. It's been years, and my

memory isn't as sharp as it

used to

best probably don't recall much from

back then."

"How could that be? You were the star of the law school, the one who could memorize entire legal textbooks without breaking a sweat." He paused briefly, his warm smile still lingering.

"I suppose it's just been too long since we've talked, so I slipped your mind," he added.

"I really have to go now," Jamie said, lowering her gaze before briskly walking away.

But Jay wasn't ready to let her leave. He gently grabbed her arm again. "You're still recovering. You shouldn't be walking around. Let me check on you."

"I'm fine," Jamie replied, trying to pull away.
