CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1526

Perhaps due to her injuries, Jamie couldn't muster much strength, and her resistance felt as feeble as a kitten pawing at someone.

Jay gently guided her back to the hospital bed. While examining her injuries, his expression turned serious. "All these years, I've attended every class reunion, but I've never seen you. Did you move abroad?" Jamie shook her head slightly. "Life's been messy. Nothing worth mentioning."

"If there's anything troubling you, tell me. Maybe this old classmate can help," Jay said softly, his eyes full of concern.

Though time had barely left its mark on her face, her eyes carried a deep weariness, dulling the radiance she once had. It was clear she had endured more than her fair share of hardships over the years. Jamie remained silent for a moment before shaking her head again. "I'm fine, Jay."

Instinctively, he asked, "So, did you become a lawyer?"

The question hit her like a sharp sting. Her lips trembled for a second before she forced a weak smile and deflected, "How's my injury looking?"

Realizing she was intentionally avoiding the topic, Jay dropped the subject. He examined her wound carefully and sighed. "It's opened up again."

"No wonder it hurts," Jamie replied with a pale smile.

"You haven't changed at all. You're still so stubborn. But this time, listen to me. Avoid getting the wound wet and let it heal properly," Jay instructed, his tone gentle as he worked on treating her. Jamie nodded, managing a faint smile. "Thank you, Jay."

Before the moment could linger, a cold voice broke the quiet atmosphere. "Barely left alone for a minute, and you're already cozying up to a doctor?"

Startled, Jamie turned toward the door to find Ben leaning casually against the frame, his sharp eyes filled with disdain. She hadn't even noticed when he arrived.

Hearing his voice made her heart tighten involuntarily.

Jay turned back to face Ben, their gazes locking like a clash of thunder.

After a long silence, Jay spoke, his tone calm but laced with underlying tension. "She's a patient. Why must you speak to her so harshly?"

Ben's brows furrowed, his expression icy. "That's none of your concern."

Jay's frown deepened. "You're not respecting her."

Ben let out a dry laugh, his tone dripping with scorn. "Does she deserve respect?"

The quiet fire in Jay's chest flared into anger. Without hesitation, he stepped forward, ready to stand up for Jamie.

Sensing the growing tension, Jamie quickly got to her feet, moving to block the confrontation. "Jay, please. This isn't necessary," she said, her voice strained.

She glanced at him with a faint, apologetic smile. "It's been a long time, and I'm happy to see you again, but I have something to take care of right now. Let's catch up another time."

Jay hesitated, his concern evident as his gaze swept over her pale, tired face. Despite his reluctance, he finally nodded. "Fine. But this time, I won't lose your contact information again."

As the door clicked shut behind him, marking his exit, Ben tilted his head toward Jamie, a mocking smile tugging at his lips. "A doctor? Nice. You've got a talent for holding onto every possible lifeline, haven't you?"

QUMS

"Do you always have to be so cruel?" Jamie pressed a hand to her chest, struggling to steady her breathing. "He's just an old classmate."

"In your world, is there anything beyond personal gain?" Ben suddenly grasped her chin, his grip tightening as he tilted her face upward. "Answer me."

Jamie stared at him, her pale lips curling into a faint, bitter smile. "Just an old classmate. If you're this upset, Ben, I might think you're jealous." "Dream on," he spat through gritted teeth, his voice laced with venom.

Jamie didn't genuinely believe he was jealous. She only wanted to provoke him, to shift his attention away from Jay.

When she tried to push his hand away, the motion tugged painfully at her wound, sending a cold sweat down her back.
