Chapter 1650
Ben's tone was as cold as ice. "I believe I've made myself very clear."
Unwilling to let the opportunity slip away, Summer reached out, clawing at both his shirt and her own in a desperate attempt to stage the scene.
But she was no match for Ben. He shoved her onto the sofa and strode to the door. When he opened it, the police were already outside, along with a group of reporters who were evidently prearranged.
"This woman broke into my room," Ben stated with absolute indifference. "She also had my room key card, and the wine brought to me by the hotel staff was tampered with. Please test it and handle this matter according to the law."
The police, taken aback by the situation, reviewed the surveillance footage. The evidence aligned with Ben's account that he hadn't done anything wrong.
The reporters watched the entire scene unfold. Ben's sharp gaze swept over them, his voice cutting. "Let me guess. You already had your headline prepared. Something like, 'Renowned Lawyer Meets Secret Lover the Night Before His Wedding,' right?" The reporters, caught red-handed, scratched their heads awkwardly, glancing at one another without responding.

Ben scoffed. "If I see that headline on any media outlet tomorrow, don't blame me for filing a defamation lawsuit."
As one of the most formidable lawyers in the field, Ben's reputation preceded him. The reporters quickly nodded in agreement. "Of course not, Mr. Lucas. We journalists still adhere to basic professional ethics."
"Write whatever else you want," Ben said dismissively, walking away without another glance.
After an all-night investigation, Ben was about to board his flight when he received a call from the police.
"We've confirmed that the wine
contained sedatives. The hotel staff were bribed to provide Summer with your room key. She's currently in
custody and wants to see you."

"I don't have the time," Ben replied coldly. "Handle it according to the law. I'll have my attorney take over and file charges."
The officer hesitated, initially
planning to suggest an out-of-court
settlement since no actual harm had
occurred. But hearing Ben's tone, it was clear reconciliation wasn't on the table.

As soon as his plane landed, Ben hurried home.
Passing a flower shop along the way, he had already driven past when he paused, reconsidered, and turned back. He entered the shop and personally selected a vibrant
bouquet of fresh morning
swnComs.
When he arrived and saw Jamie, he handed the flowers to her. "Do you like them?"
A hint of surprise lit up Jamie's face. "You rushed back first thing in the morning, and you still stopped to buy me flowers? Aren't you tired?"
Ben gazed at her intently, his eyes warm and tender. "Carrying these flowers on my way home, knowing I'd see you soon, I didn't feel tired at all." Jamie's cheeks flushed slightly as she bit her lip, her eyes brimming with affection.
She took the bouquet with a smile, inhaled their fragrance, and looked back at Ben. "I love them. Will you always be this good to me?" Ben gently brushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear, his expression soft.
"We've been through so much to finally be together. Of course, I'll be good to you for the rest of my life. Silly girl, what are you thinking?"
