Love Comes To Me

Chapter 1334: Are you hiding from me?

Since Paulina and the baby had returned to J-town, the whole old Khan family home had grown cold.

Every now and then, Dulce would exclaim, "It's still better when Paulina is around."

Now that she has no one to talk to, she often runs to the hospital to spend time with Agustina.

On this day, she was about to leave the house when Elva arrived.

"Tia, I'm sorry, I didn't know you were going out or I wouldn't have come." Elva said hurriedly, seeing her so dressed up for a night out.

Dulce smiled and said, "That's okay. You're just in time to have someone to talk to so you don't have to go out."

Elva smiled and handed her the gift she had brought, "Auntie, two days ago I went abroad and saw this silk scarf that looks especially nice on you, so I bought it for you." "Yes?" Dulce took it and opened it, her eyes lit up, "It's really beautiful."

"The texture is very comfortable, too." said Elva.

Dulce's affection jumped to her face, "I love it. It just backfired on you."

"Auntie, no need to say such unkind words, we're family now."

Dulce couldn't stop smiling, "Yes, yes, yes, yes, we are family now."

She led Elva inside, "Come in and sit down, we'll have dinner here today, Edgar will be back too, let him take you home then."

"Thank you Aunty." Elva smiled shyly.

The more Dulce saw of her future daughter-in-law, the more she liked her, and she couldn't wait for her son to marry her today.

...

Near the end of the day, Edgar got a call from his mother.

"Edgar, when are you coming home?"

Edgar looked at the time on the bottom right of his computer and replied, "Probably around seven."

"Then you'll come straight home from work, okay? Don't go anywhere."

Hearing his mother say that, Edgar scoffed with a smile, "Mom, are you preparing a big meal for when I get home?"

"More than a feast, you're in for a surprise."

"Surprise?" Edgar's brow furrowed slightly. "Anyway, you'll find out when you get back."

With those words, the phone hung up.

Edgar couldn't help but let the smile escape his face, since Paulina and the others had left, his mother's whole mood had dropped noticeably, and today was the first time he'd heard her smile so cheerfully. What was the happy news?

Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind and the smile on his face froze immediately.

He frowned, it couldn't be Elva coming home, could it?

Could it be Elva, the surprise her mother was talking about?

Thinking about it, he picked up his cell phone and called the housekeeper's number and, after asking, verified that it really was Elva.

After hanging up the phone, Edgar breathed a long sigh of relief and felt grateful.

Luckily, he had called back for clarification, otherwise it would have been difficult for him to escape when he returned home.

There was no going home.

Then let's go to Edwina's.

When Edgar called, Edwina eh was preparing dinner. When she heard he was coming, she got a little nervous: "Why didn't you tell me earlier that you were coming?" she asked. "Are you saying I'm not welcome?" asked Edgar.

"No, it's just that..."

Edgar laughed softly and asked, "What are you and Bonnie having for lunch?"

"Egg noodles with tomato." Edwina answered truthfully as she looked at the pot of boiling water.

"Fix me an extra dish. I'll come over after work."

"Mom, is the pasta cooked?" Bonnie rushed into the kitchen just in time to see Edwina hanging up the phone and asked curiously, "Mom, who were you talking to on the phone?" Edwina turned her head to look at him and the corner of her mouth turned up slightly, "It's you Uncle Edgar."

"Is he coming?" asked Bonnie again.

Edwina nodded, "Yes."

"Great." Bonnie was glad to hear that Edgar was coming.

"We have to wait for Uncle Edgar to come so we can eat the noodles. You can have a loaf of bread to fill your belly first if you're hungry."

"Okay!"

Bonnie turned and ran off.

Watching her back, the smile on Edwina's face slowly faded.

Her relationship with Edgar had been fairly stable for some time now, but she couldn't help but think about what Dulce had said and her mind was troubled.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

She hoped the days would continue to be this quiet.

...

It was almost seven-thirty and Edgar was nowhere to be seen.

Dulce rushed to call him and it didn't take long for him to connect.

"Why aren't you back yet?" asked Dulce in an anxious tone, not waiting for the other party to speak.

Edgar was driving, looking at the road in front of his car, and said casually, "Mom, I'm sorry I couldn't get home for dinner. As it happens, there's a teleconference and I may not be home until late." "What's the coincidence?" Dulce turned her head to look at Elva, sitting in the living room, frowning, "Can't you put it off?"

"Mom, this is a meeting with hundreds of millions of dollars of orders on the line, how can you just adjourn it?"

He had said it, Dulce couldn't make things difficult for him, so he could only say, "Then try to come back sooner." "Okay."

Dulce hung up the phone and thought for a moment before turning and walking toward the living room.

"Elva, let's eat first."

At that, Elva asked, puzzled, "Where's Edgar?"

"Turns out he has a meeting and won't be back until later." Dulce smiled shyly, "I've asked him to come back as soon as possible."

Despite this, Elva could barely hide her disappointment.

"Auntie, is Edgar avoiding me?" asked Elva.

Fearing she was upset, Dulce was quick to reassure her, "Don't think blindly, he doesn't even know you're coming, he's definitely not avoiding you."

"Is that so?" Elva bit her lip and muttered under her breath, "Who knows if he really has a meeting."

Dulce heard this and said, "I'll call Ivor and ask if there's a meeting."

With that, she pulled out her phone and set about calling Ivor.

"Auntie, no need to call." Elva spoke up to stop her, "Ivor is Edgar's assistant, surely he will help Edgar, how could he possibly tell you the truth?" Dulce frowned, "Is that your way of saying you are sure Edgar is lying?".

"Tia, of course I don't want Edgar to lie either, but he never liked me and was probably just avoiding me because he already knew I was coming." At that, Elva smiled to herself, "I'm still very self conscious."

Seeing his disappointed look, Dulce was very distressed. "Elva, Edgar only thinks about his work, so he doesn't worry so much about his feelings." Elva was silent for a few seconds before asking, "What about Edwina?"

At the mention of Edwina, the smile on Dulce's face faded, "It's just a momentary pleasure for Edgar, it's not going to happen."

"Auntie, have you ever thought about Edgar leaving with Edwina?".

Dulce frowned fiercely, her whole face sagging.

Was her son really cheating on her?
