Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 369

Callum looked into Selena's eyes, feeling a sharp pain in his chest. It had only been two months since they last met, yet the vibrant and lively woman he once knew had become pale and frail, with a constant sadness lingering in her expression. If he could, he'd take her

away right now, far from the man causing her so much pain and the cage she was stuck in.

Selena understood this too well. No matter how much of a jerk her man was emotionally, his abilities were undeniable. Callum was certainly no slouch, but in terms of tactics and influence, Everett was the top dog among their peers. After passing on his message, Callum got ready to leave. Selena bit her lip, trying to hold back her feelings, but eventually, she couldn't suppress her longing. Her voice was hoarse as she asked, "How's our baby doing? Is he okay?"

"He's doing great, don't worry. You'll see him soon!" Callum reassured her gently, pulling a Polaroid photo from his pocket and handing it to her. "I took this, thinking of you, as a keepsake."

Selena's hands shook as she took the picture. Callum put on his hat and hurried off. Alone, Selena locked her door, finally allowing herself to look closely at the photo. Her month-old baby looked like most newborns-wrinkled and not quite as perfect as she'd imagined. But the more she looked, the more precious he became to her. This was her baby, the one she'd carried for ten months.

She pressed the photo to her cheek, wishing she could hug and kiss him right through the image. Her once lifeless heart sparked with hope again. For her baby, she had to keep going. She'd made it through tough times before, and she could do it again.

Selena wiped away her tears, kissed the photo, and slowly started to smile. Over the next few days, Everett still didn't come back. Ava, ready with words to comfort Selena, was surprised to find her mistress seemingly unfazed, except for a brief moment of distraction that morning. In fact, her appetite had grown, and she was eating heartily at every meal. The days of pecking at her food were over, and she truly relished her meals.

It was astonishing. Truly, the lady was remarkable! But it was for the best. As long as the mistress was happy, Ava was relieved.

After a bath and her skincare

routine, Selena went to bed early. She didn't want her first meeting with her baby to be with a face full of exhaustion and resentment, worried it might frighten him. She wasn't. sure how long she'd slept when she suddenly smelled the strong scent of alcohol mixed with various perfumes. Since giving birth, her sense of smell had become more acute. She frowned, starting to wake up.

Suddenly, a weight pressed down on her, pinning her beneath. A man's hand yanked at her nightgown, revealing her smooth shoulder.

Everett's cool lips kissed down

nibbling gently while murmuring,

"Mrs. Bennett, you smell amazing..."

Selena's eyes flew open. In the faint moonlight, she saw his drunkenly handsome face and the desire in his eyes. He moved from her shoulder to her neck, biting just hard enough to leave his mark.

Such intimacy was meant for lovers.

But instead of feeling moved, Selena felt a physical revulsion, especially when he propped himself up to remove his shirt. The collar was stained with a smear of red lipstick. So, he'd just come from fooling around elsewhere and now expected to be with her?

Anger, humiliation, disgust, nausea-all these emotions hit her at once. Selena couldn't control herself and shoved him away with all her strength. Unprepared, Everett landed on the floor. Selena's lips trembled with rage, her dark eyes blazing, "Everett, don't touch me! You're filthy, you make me sick!"
