Mommy for Billionaire's Baby

Chapter 35 c

"Why are you remembering work stuff?" Nathan was surprised, but then his laughter filled the car. It was Nathan's habit to place a few documents there for Tasya to check and organize according to her schedule. "This time there are no work sheets."

Tasya immediately opened it and found a red velvet box inside. A black ribbon adorned its tip. Beautiful. Tasya's guess about its contents wasn't far from a ring or bracelet. "For me?"

Nathan nodded immediately. His car was parked for a moment, maybe because Tasya was focused on the box, it didn't make her suspect that the sedan Nathan was driving had stopped moving.

"Try opening it," Nathan ordered, slightly adjusting his sitting position. His eyes didn't leave the movements of the girl next to him. He noticed how her eyes sparkled more and more when the box opened, and the gleam became even brighter. "Dolphins?" Tasya was clearly surprised. Her guess was a hundred percent off. Before her, there were sparkling gemstone earrings surrounded by dolphin-shaped carvings.

"Yes. It's my symbol of love for you."

Tasya's brow still displayed deep wrinkles. Nathan allowed her to take over the box he was holding. She observed Nathan carefully, watching as his fingers slowly opened the clasp at the back of the dolphin earrings.

"Dolphins are known as loving creatures. They provide many benefits, not to mention their adorable behavior. But there's one legend that's been around for a long time about these mammals, Tasya." Nathan smiled faintly. "Shall I put them on?"

Tasya swallowed slowly. She stared at Nathan for quite a while. Could she refuse? Most of her heart had already fallen for the item that Nathan had brought. It wasn't about the price or the shape, but Nathan surely had his own thoughts behind the gift.

It wasn't the first or second time Tasya was asked to buy gifts like bags, rings, watches, perfumes, or clothes for women who were close to Nathan back then. But he never paid much attention to any of them. Usually, he'd just say to Tasya, "You pick it, it's not for someone special to me."

"Don't want it, huh?" Nathan sighed softly. He had specially ordered these earrings because of their rare design. He had prepared them for Tasya whenever the time came. Nathan was sure that she wouldn't leave him. Even if Tasya had plans to leave him, Nathan would make sure that it failed. Completely.

It didn't matter if Tasya got angry later. What mattered was that Tasya had to be around him. Close to him. And looking at him for a long time. If necessary, forever. Living together, oh... with Naina. As for the child they would have together, it could be discussed after the wedding.

"That's not it," Tasya quickly interrupted. "You haven't continued the dolphin legend, Nathan. I want to hear it first."

Nathan, who had previously erased the smile from his lips, was now enthusiastic, pulling her closer with energy. "The legend says that dolphins once saved two people who were separated by the rough seas. Both were overwhelmed with sadness, fear, and worried about their partners, even though their lives were at stake, right?"

Tasya chose to listen.

"Like you, who saved me from fear. Saving Naina from the brink of death. Then uniting us because I was too selfish as a substitute daddy. What else is worthy of me giving you besides this symbol, Tasya?"

Whether it was luck or misfortune for Tasya, as soon as she entered her room, the pile of files on her desk had vanished. She moved over to the desk next to Nathan's large one.

"I've sorted out the urgent ones, but there are quite a few, huh?" Nathan grimaced as he entered the room. "Well... that's how it goes when you're not around."

Tasya frowned. "I got sick from overworking. I come back to work, and it's already piled up like this?"

Nathan chuckled. "No need to overdramatize, huh? There'll be help from the admin department. I'm not that heartless as a boss and a future husband."

Tasya rolled her eyes. "I don't want anyone in this office to know we're involved, Nathan."

He shrugged. "So, Tasya Rosmerry is more into getting tormented by her boss in the office than having others know she's getting attention from the owner of the name?" "Whatever!" Tasya waved dismissively. "Where are the files you've checked?"

"The ones with the red labels," Nathan replied, shaking his head in bewilderment. Sometimes, Tasya was quite difficult to work with unless it was something that would give her a headache. "I've checked some on the right, but I felt something was off."

"Off?" Tasya turned and looked at Nathan, who was now leaning against the edge of his large desk. "What do you mean? Is there some kind of fraud going on?" She picked up the report Nathan had pointed out and immediately began to examine it. It was the financial report from two months ago that now filled Tasya's vision.

Her hair, which had slightly come undone due to Nathan's playful antics while putting on the earrings in the car earlier, she hadn't fixed yet. That's why she slipped the strands back behind her ear. She couldn't let anything disturb her concentration, especially not something as trivial as hair.

"My future wife looks so beautiful with those dolphin earrings," Nathan said cheerfully.

"Really?"

Nathan shook his head. "No, just kidding. Anyway, there's something strange about that report."

"What's strange, Sir?" Tasya shifted into serious mode. Talking to Nathan required a lot of patience.

"It's strange that there's no handwriting of yours on any of the corrections. It means I miss you a lot, Tasya." If trapping Tasya in his embrace without earning her anger and irritation was possible, Nathan would have done it since earlier. Just a hug to hold Tasya close and a kiss on her forehead.

Unfortunately, it was just a daydream.

Tasya set her boundaries very high. If Nathan insisted, it might be possible, but the risk was too great, and Nathan didn't want that to happen.

"Nonsense!" Tasya pouted but then smiled faintly. "Enough, we have to work."

Nathan just smiled, watching how nervous Tasya was around him. It was quite amusing, and he thoroughly enjoyed it until a knock on the office door interrupted them. "Come in," Nathan said.

"Sir, there's someone who wants to see you."

It was the office boy who usually cleaned Nathan's office area.

"Who is it?"

"Her name is... um... Mrs. Bonnie."
