Chapter 417 Is Harry a Top-Notch Hacker?
Alaric managed to snag himself a day off. He had to get his treatment shot tomorrow, so he needed to wrap up his work today.
As soon as he got to the office, Silas barged in and said, "Mr. Knight, we got another issue. The authority called again. They said the work resumption might be delayed. Even though the approval came through, they got a ton of complaints. Now they gotta do another site inspection."
"A ton of complaints?" Alaric scoffed. Regular folks wouldn't be this bored; it had to be the enemy's doing.
Alaric asked, "Have you tracked down the IP addresses of those stirring up trouble last time?"
Silas looked down. "No, Mr. Knight. I'm sorry."
Alaric narrowed his eyes. "Ambrose is behind all this, the public backlash last time, this online mess, and the construction site accident. We just strong-armed one of his partners. Seems like he hasn't had enough, so let's make him suffer more." Just as Alaric finished, Cormac rushed in. Seeing him, Alaric waved Silas away, and Silas left respectfully.
"Here about the work resumption getting rejected?" Alaric asked.
Cormac said, "You already know?"
"Of course." Alaric had seen this coming and wasn't surprised. "Don't worry, the work resumption will get approved soon. I'll also catch the person behind these dirty tricks."
Cormac got what Alaric was planning and said, "I'll find a top hacker to track down those accounts stirring up trouble."
"No need. I got one right here." Alaric always knew Harry was a hacker, but he had never seen him in action. This time, he could finally see it.
If Harry couldn't do it, they could always find that top hacker later. Waiting another day or two for work resumption was manageable.
"Harry?" Cormac thought of him and said skeptically, "Can he really handle this? No matter how skilled he is, he's still so young."
"It's about smarts, not age," Alaric said confidently, "I believe in him."
"Alright then." Seeing Alaric so calm, Cormac felt reassured.
Alaric said, "By the way, I gotta get my treatment shot again tomorrow. The reaction might still be rough. Let's have a meeting later, and I'll inform the board that Galatea will be in charge until I'm fully recovered." "I get it," Cormac said, "Even if the higher-ups are unhappy, they wouldn't dare disobey your orders."
"Yeah." Alaric responded lightly, then pulled out a cigarette and handed it to Cormac. He noticed that ever since Cormac's family went bankrupt, he had become particularly fond of smoking.
Maybe smoking could ease some of his stress?
Cormac refused, "I've quit."
'What? Quit smoking?' Thinking of something, Alaric laughed. Seeing him laugh, Cormac asked, "What's so funny?"
"Are you trying to have a baby?" Alaric asked directly.
"You're sharp, man. Yeah, Rowena and I are working on it," Cormac said. "We're not getting any younger. Your kids are already in elementary school, so we need to catch up."
Alaric asked, "Have you told Aurora?"
"Actually, she brought it up herself," Cormac said. "Aurora's so mature. She said she wanted a younger sibling and that she'd be a great big sister. With her saying that, Rowena and I felt no pressure." Alaric remarked, "That's awesome, I'm kinda jealous."
Hearing this, Cormac couldn't help but want to punch Alaric. "You have such smart kids, and you're jealous of me? Want a punch?"
Alaric just smiled. Meanwhile, Ambrose was grinning like a Cheshire cat.
"Nexus Innovations' application to resume work got rejected. This is fantastic," Ambrose was genuinely happy.
"Yeah, after such a major safety incident, how can they resume work so quickly? No wonder it sparked public outrage. Nexus Innovations is completely disregarding life," Tommy said slowly. "Yeah, this is public outrage, which comes from the empathy of the people living at the bottom," Ambrose said with a particularly satisfied smile.
Tommy said, "Congrats, Mr. Vale. He made us lose a partner, and he suffered losses himself. It's poetic justice."
Ambrose chuckled. "That's right."
At this moment, Tommy took out a notebook and handed it to Ambrose, explaining, "I got this from my uncle. It has the dates of Alaric's treatment shots, each date clearly written. I also asked my uncle. Alaric's side effects are severe. Even if the treatment reactions aren't as bad as before, they still have an impact."
According to my spy, Alaric went to the company today. Today was supposed to be his treatment day, so if he went to the company, it must be for the resumption of work. The treatment day must have been postponed to tomorrow." Ambrose took the notebook from Tommy. Each of Alaric's treatment dates was detailed.
"Four more months? An average of one treatment shot per week?" Ambrose saw the pattern in the dates.
"Yes, which means for the next four months, Nexus Innovations will still be managed by Stellan. This is very advantageous for us," Tommy said.
Ambrose was particularly pleased and praised Tommy, "I really didn't misjudge you at all. Hiring you was the right decision."
Tommy said, "It was a lucky coincidence. My uncle happens to be his attending physician, so I got this."
Ambrose looked at the treatment schedule again and said, "I absolutely cannot let Alaric recover. If he recovers, it will be very difficult to bring him down again. So, we must kill him during this period!" Hearing this, Tommy remained silent.
Alaric absolutely knew Ambrose's intentions. Ambrose probably not only wanted to kill Alaric but also Stellan. After all, Stuart also blamed Todd's death on Stellan.
At the end of the workday, Alaric drove to pick up the kids. As soon as they got in the car, Alaric said to Harry, "Harry, I remember you said you're a top hacker, right?"
Harry said, somewhat proud, "Of course, my skills are excellent!"
"Can you do me a favor?" Alaric asked.
