Chapter 418 Caspian, Shouldn't You Honor Your Bet?
Hearing what Alaric said, Harry couldn't hold back his excitement and leaned in, "Dad, what favor? Just spill it. No matter how risky, I'm in." "Dad just wants to see your hacking skills, not send you to war," Caspian shot back.
"Another thing I'm better at than you? Must sting, huh? Big bro can't beat me at anything, and it's eating you up, right?" Harry teased. Caspian snapped, "Why are you so cocky? I won the global kids' math competition first prize. Can you do that?"
Harry smirked, "I'm taller than you."
Caspian, getting flustered, said, "I aced all my subjects, and I'm great at painting, piano, and logic."
Harry made a face. "Still taller than you."
Caspian's face turned red with anger. Harry was really getting under his skin.
"Don't give me that jealous look. I'm just stating facts," Harry said, then turned to Elisa, "Elisa, back me up. Aren't my hacking skills awesome?" "Honestly, they are," Elisa admitted.
Caspian's face darkened. "Since you're so good, help Dad with this first."
Harry raised an eyebrow. "Caspian, wanna bet? If I help Dad, you admit I'm taller. If I fail, I'll never mention your height again."
"That's so childish! No way!" Caspian retorted.
"Scared, huh?" Harry taunted, "Afraid you'll lose?"
Caspian shouted, "Who's scared? I am in!"
"Alright then," Harry said, already pumped.
When they got home, Harry couldn't even wait to eat and dragged Alaric into the study.
"What are you doing? Skipping dinner?" Stellan saw them head straight to the study and quickly followed.
"Mom, Caspian and Harry made a bet," Elisa explained to Stellan.
"What do you need Harry's help with?" Stellan asked, worried about Alaric using Harry's hacking skills.
"A game of finding bad guys on the virtual network," Alaric said, pulling up some online comments trashing Stellan and posts against Nexus Innovations reopening.
"These comments—can you find out who posted them, get their IP addresses, and then all their info?" Alaric asked.
"Piece of cake," Harry said, thinking it was too easy. "I thought you needed me for something tough. This is a walk in the park."
Harry thought he'd have to crack some high-level code. This was just basic stuff.
Even though he hadn't started yet, Harry knew he could do it, so he provocatively said to Caspian, "Caspian, get ready to admit I'm taller."
Caspian snapped, "Just get it done first, stop bragging!"
"Alright, I'll make you admit it soon enough," Harry said, "You all go eat dinner. By the time you're done, I'll have it all sorted out."
Caspian asked, "Harry, you're not gonna let us watch?"
Harry replied, "Of course not. This is my secret skill, can't let it leak out. What if someone tries to steal it?"
"Who'd wanna learn from you, you're so narrow-minded!" Caspian stormed out, slamming the door.
Harry stuck his tongue out at him, then said to the others, "Caspian's gone, you three should leave too. Don't disturb me."
"Alright, thanks, Harry," Alaric said, leading Stellan and Elisa out of the study.
To be safe, once they left, Harry locked the door from the inside.
"He's so cautious. Harry is really stingy, not even letting us watch," Elisa complained.
"Since it's Harry's skill, if he doesn't want us to watch, we won't. Let's go eat," Alaric said, leading them downstairs.
But Caspian clearly had no appetite. The thought of admitting he was shorter than Harry made him frustrated.
"I don't feel like eating," Caspian said, putting down his utensils.
"Caspian, you can't be like this," Alaric admonished. "Every kid has their own strengths. No one can excel in every field. You need to appreciate your own strengths and others'. You can't be unhappy just because someone is better than you in one area."
Caspian said, "I'm not, I just..."
"Caspian doesn't want to admit he's shorter than Harry. After all, he can improve in many areas, but not height. That's why he cares," Elisa explained.
'Thanks a lot!'
It would have been better if she hadn't said anything.
"What's wrong with being a little shorter? It's normal," Stellan said quickly, "Caspian, as Elisa said, it's genetic. Harry didn't grow taller through his own efforts, so there's no need to be upset." Caspian sighed. "Alright, I get it. I made a bet with him. If I lose, I'll accept it. If I'm really shorter, I'll admit it. I get it."
Hearing this, Alaric and Stellan felt very relieved.
At that moment, Harry came running down the stairs excitedly. "Done!"
"Already?" Alaric was surprised.
"With my skills, that's a piece of cake" Harry said, "I've found the people who started spreading the rumors."
"Great, thanks, Harry. Come eat," Alaric said, collecting the information and sending it to Silas with instructions to file a lawsuit.
Harry was very proud, looking at Caspian before eating.
Caspian took a deep breath and said, "I admit you're taller than me, and your hacking skills are indeed better. I can't match you in that."
Harry thought, 'He even adds a compliment? Caspian really shows some enlightenment today!'
"Well. It's good you admit it," Harry said happily, "Suddenly, the food tastes even better."
