My Heart only Beats for You (Natalie Godfrey)

Chapter 2468

"Water can carry a boat, but it can also sink it. The people must always come first. Once you've won the hearts of the people, only then can you foster hope and build a future for the country." Elmonde nodded his head repeatedly.

He agreed with Tremaine's advice.

They shared similar principles when it comes to running the country. They were actually surprisingly consistent in this.

The only thing Elmonde couldn't understand was why Tremaine wanted to resign.

He was the youngest president Nashaland ever had and was also the youngest president compared to all the other countries.

His tenure would last for many years.

He could also garner many achievements for Nashaland.

But now, he was handing over the reigns as president over to someone else. Elmonde just couldn't figure him out.

He also felt very regretful.

Even though Elmonde had very similar interests and principals as Tremaine, he recognized that he wasn't as capable as him.

He was born a commoner after all and was limited in his knowledge and experience. He wasn't as good as Tremaine was. Although having the title of president was very tempting for Elmonde.

Who wouldn't want to be the leader of an entire country? Who wouldn't want their names to be remembered in the history books?

But, Elmonde's own reason clearly told him that Tremaine was the better candidate for this role.

After considering this, Elmonde said, "Sir, even though it honors me greatly to be chosen by you to be the next president, I don't believe I can do the job better than you. Please sir, remain as president, I will humbly serve you loyally!" Tremaine looked at Elmonde and noticed the strong sincerity in his eyes.

He looked at him appreciatively.

He was right to choose Elmonde as his successor.

Being able to resist the temptation of power not only proved that he would make a strong leader but that he was also a good man.

Tremaine replied, "I've already made my decision.

Now, you should listen to what I have to teach you.

The responsibility of leading Nashaland will be on your shoulders soon."

"But sir, you are much better suited for this than I am."

Tremaine then patted Elmonde's shoulder and said, "Don't worry, you'll surpass me once you've gotten some experience on the job."

"Sir..."

Tremaine gently interrupted Elmonde. "There's no need to say anything more. I won't change my mind."

Elmonde was smart enough to know that there was nothing more to say to Tremaine, so he simply said, "Sir, I won't let you down."

Tremaine nodded and said, "I have faith in my skills in judging people."

At eight o'clock that evening, Tremaine was preparing to leave the presidential office.

But Hogan and Sheldon suddenly appeared.

"Sir, there's something I need to talk to you about." Hogan with his deep voice.

Tremaine glanced at his watch and said, "Another time. I need to get home to my family."

Hogan looked at him with a serious look on his face, "If you won't hear me out will follow you home. will follow you into the Quartley Palace and more until you hear me out!"

Tremaine frowned.

He had always known Hogan to be very stubborn.

He then said, "Alright, I can give you thirty minutes."

Hogan looked at Sheldon.

Sheldon quickly said, "Sir, I have something to attend to, so I'll be taking my leave now."

After Sheldon was gone, Hogan said, "I've always wondered why you had plans to resign so soon. Now it seems I've figured out why

Tremaine kept his lips closed.

Hogan really was worthy of his title.

Everyone else would jump the gun and come wailing to him at the drop of a hat.

Only Hogan would remain quiet. He would only talk to him after he had found everything he could.
