Chapter 3585 Coexisting In Peace
Hepburn's words then truly represent the demands of the entire vampire race.
Their request was quite simple. They just hoped humans could provide them with a living space to survive.
In their view, even beasts were given forest areas to survive by humans, so it didn't make sense for vampires to be eradicated.
Moreover, Hepburn's words also reflect the stance of all vampires.
If mankind didn't allow them to survive, they would fight for the right to do so.
He was well aware that there were only two options for dealing with the vampires. Either they were to be completely annihilated with every last one of them wiped out; or negotiations were to be held. As long as the human race's survival and status were not threatened, a living space could be granted to the vampires, achieving peaceful coexistence.
Nathan furrowed his brows.
Both of these options, whether it was annihilation or negotiation, were actually not easy.
If it came to a battle, it was uncertain how many human warriors had to be sacrificed to completely annihilate the vampires.
In terms of negotiations, humans also have their reservations. If they were to agree to provide a living space for the vampires now, they weren't sure about how the vampires would grow and develop over time.
There was a possibility that thousands of years later, the latter could pose a threat to the status of mankind or even threaten human survival.
All these were factors to consider.
As it stood then, Nathan believed that it was not appropriate for humans to wage war against the vampires, lest it provided an opportunity for the alien Gods to take advantage of them. Moreover, Nathan had privately agreed with Shadowbeard that if possible, he would try to provide a lifeline for the vampires, instead of annihilating them.
Finally, Nathan himself carried the bloodline of the vampires. If he intended to annihilate all of them, he would also have to end his own life.
Taking into account various factors, Nathan decided to negotiate with the vampires, offering them a chance to survive. In reality, he was also creating a safety net for himself.
As for the possibility of the vampires posing a threat to humanity in the future, humans and the vampires would cross swords again when that day came.
Nathan said slowly, "If I were to
represent humanity, I would promise
to designate an area for you to live in. Are you willing to coexist peacefully with humans? Especially when there are to be no further killings of humans? Every member of the vampires will be registered and managed by a special department of the human alliance. If a member of the vampires commits murder or any crime, the higher-ups of the clan will cooperate with the special human departments to carry out the arrest, trial, and even execution of the perpetrator."
When the words came out of Nathan's mouth, Hepburn's eyes lit up.
She obviously would prefer not to go to war with Nathan.
The powerful vampires behind her also fell into deep thought.
Nathan, the commander-in-chief of the human alliance, had agreed to spare the lives of the vampires, but he had conditions.
The vampires could only live in designated areas from now on, and they had to accept supervision.
Any vampire that killed a human would face severe punishment from both vampires and humans alike.
The powerful members of the vampires whispered amongst themselves for a moment. Then, one by one, they expressed to Hepburn their acceptance of Nathan's initial proposal.
With her head held high, Hepburn,
representing the vampires, said to Nathan, "Mr. Cross, if humans are truly willing to allocate a region for the vampire kind to live in, we can coexist without disrupting each other Also, we can accept the
heel
supervision of humans. I also
believe that there are man areas
where vampires and humans can collaborate. In certain fields where humans have the upper hand, we can work for them in return for fresh blood from human blood banks as a form of compensation."
Nathan was glad to see that the vampires had agreed to his proposal for peaceful coexistence.
Although it was likely that countless negotiations would be needed for humans and the vampires to truly coexist in peace and there were still
many details to be worked out, they were at least off to a good start.
Nathan smiled and said, "Excellent. We're on the same page so far. We will continue our detailed discussions later. Here's to hoping our negotiations will be successful."
After saying that, he extended his hand toward Hepburn.
With a vibrant smile, Hepburn reached out and shook hands with Nathan.
