Chapter 2394
Chapter 2394
"Since we're on this topic, there's something I need to tell you." Bella's face turned serious, her voice cold as she spoke, "I strongly suspect that Clarice is actually Rosalind Gold."
Her words left the three men visibly stunned, shock written all over their faces.
"But," she continued, "I don't have solid evidence yet. There's no confession or a DNA test. However, that day at the hospital, she turned around and acted strangely when I called her Rosalind Gold. Not just that, her habits, mannerisms, and little quirks are all identical to Rosalind."
Bella smiled confidently and added, "Most importantly, I trust my instincts on this."
"That explains it!" Axel suddenly jumped to his feet, his eyes wide. "The first time I saw her at the hospital, I felt something was off when she walked past me. There was a feeling of familiarity. It turns out, she's really Rosalind Gold! It wasn't just my imagination; my instincts were right!"
Asher's expression was serious. "If that's true, Justin is in even more danger. This time, Rosalind is back with a new disguise and is hanging around Grant. She's probably out for revenge. The Gold family was destroyed before, and everyone turned on her. Now, she would want to take everything from Justin, and she might even come after you, Bella."
"Great, she'd better hurry then." Bella leaned back into the sofa, crossing her long, slim legs.
She lifted her chin, brimming with confidence, her almond eyes glinting with unwavering resolve. "I can't wait for it."
After Clarice finished giving her statement, her home and personal connections were thoroughly investigated under Jack's orders.
However, there was no trace of drugs at her home, and her private life was clean. She spent most of her time around Grant and occasionally worked as a prison doctor, treating inmates.
With no leads, Jack returned to the station, only to be summoned immediately to Superintendent Donald's office.
The moment the door closed, Donald immediately glared at him and asked, "Why did you interrogate Dr. Amaryllis without my permission? Do you have any idea how much she's done as a prison doctor? She can also be considered a colleague in our judicial system! How could you question her like that? Do you realize how bad this looks?"
Jack was stunned. "But Superintendent Donald, Justin's medication tested positive for Crystal Ice, one of the drugs we've been cracking down on. He said all his medication came from Clarice. I questioned her according to the standard procedures. That's just how it works! Even if she was part of our team, I'd still have to do it."
Donald stared at him like he had been betrayed.
Meanwhile, outside the door, Ralph had his ear pressed against it, eavesdropping with all his might. It was a skill perfected by years of practice.
The words were muffled, but he could tell the argument was about Justin's case and distinctly caught Clarice's name being mentioned.
Ralph frowned, suspicion creeping into his mind.
He had always known that Jack was one of Superintendent Donald's men and was highly favored.
Jack was not as sharp as him when it came to solving cases, but he could always get things done in a way that aligned with Superintendent Donald's preferences.
This was the first time Ralph had seen them clash.
"You're going to release Dr. Amaryllis immediately! Let me remind you, this case is highly sensitive. It involves one of the most powerful families in Savrow. From now on, you are not to act without my approval!" Superintendent Donald yelled, slamming the desk in frustration.
The more Ralph listened, the more he found it strange.
If that was the case, why did they arrest Justin without sufficient evidence?
Could it be that arresting Justin was Donald's plan?
Jack paused for a moment, lost in thought, before he suddenly asked, "Superintendent Donald, why do I get the feeling you and Dr. Amaryllis are more than just professional acquaintances?"
